If we had matched that points figure throughout the season we would be eight points clear of Arsenal. Just about says it all really ................. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...t-unbeaten-without-relegation-form-plays.html
The best bit about last night was when in the second half, following an interchange of passing between I think it was Herrera and maybe Lingard he got the ball and simply passed to the nearest ball boy. And the header, let's not forget the header. But yeah, Rooney is **** and all that.
You shoulda cashed in on Rooney 2 summers ago when Jose was trying to buy him for us. You would have got £35m+ plus for him too. You will get probably £15-20m max for him now given his age, he will probably end up back at Everton now when United have finished with him.
Chelsea only offered £25million as they were under the impression Rooney would force the transfer through.
I thought it was £30m? I think we initially offered 25 but then increased it to 30 when United told us to f*** off. If United had agreed to sell for £35m, I think we would have done it. Anyways, you should have gotten rid then, he hasn't been great for you since. I would have been really curious to see what Rooney would have done in a Chelsea shirt.
Also, in fairness, Rooney did try to force it through, I think until the Glazers placated him with a 3rd payrise in 4 years. Is he still on ridiculous sums with you guys? Was more than 240k per week wasnt it?
Mourinho assumed he would hand in a transfer request. He said as much in public, that it "was up to the player" or something similar. He assumed the same with Stones but Everton still told him to **** off. Maybe the fact that he couldn't control transfers in the way he was used to was the reason why he engineered his implosion and payoff.
Its true that bigger clubs will deffo have more trouble signing players from smaller PL clubs if the smaller clubs don't want to let them go. Wasn't like 10 years ago when, if United, Chelsea or Arsenal came in for a West Brom or Everton player, it was a foregone conclusion. The Sky TV deal has made the smaller clubs richer, so they have more leverage now. With United, they didn't need to sell and didn't want to strengthen a title rival so it was a non starter from the word go really.
Thats what I mean though. You guys flogged Torres just at the right time, and made a meaty profit, and used that cash to buy Suarez (and Carroll but we will gloss over that)
Nobody, being 5hit is still good enough to beat you these days. Klopp may be buying him after Sunday.
TBF the fact he commits a foul without being punished every time he jumps for a ball would be useful as a CB
