From what people say on here he is good. Is he worth it? Further input required http://www.football-italia.net/36160/sunderland-raise-giaccherini-bid
Thats a canny wedge like Sunderland are stepping up their attempts to sign Juventus midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini, offering £8.6m. The versatile figure impressed at the Confederations Cup for Italy, playing in a variety of positions and scoring a splendid goal against Brazil. Paolo Di Canio has set his sights on the 28-year-old and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims he has raised his offer from €8m to €10m – approximately £8.6m. While a useful asset to the side, Giaccherini has mainly been used as a substitute or stop-gap solution at Juventus. He scored three goals in just 17 Serie A appearances last season, playing a grand total of 950 minutes of football.
Too much for a 28 year old player who's not outstanding by all accounts. Juve do have arguably the best crop of centre mids in Europe though so its no disgrace if your not starting regularly.
Would be outstanding in our team…Craig Gardner/David Vaughan/Seb Larsson/Emanuele Giaccherini…i know who would be first in!
Recently it came to light that there might be some interest from Sunderland in making a move for Juventus winger Emanuele Giaccherini. Reports, which even we labelled as "fanciful" have proved to be just that as we can put this particular rumour to bed. Furio Valcareggi late last night told how Sunderland are a team who have made an enquiry for his client's services; Sure, Sunderland do like him, but Antonio Conte - who is a great coach - does not even want to talk about selling Giaccherini. He is unsellable. Which is one thing certainly, but of course money can change things, and with Giaccherini having very little of his contract remaining and reportedly quite low wages, could Sunderland tempt the Italian international at all? Valcareggi went on to further explain; Absolutely not. Giaccherini is fine at Juventus. He still feels he has the confidence of the whole club and still wants to win so much. So there we have it. What we first told you was a fanciful and speculative link to the player has proven to be just that. Sometimes things are just too good to be true.
