The Sunderland Echo are reporting that Sunderland will demand £1million for David Vaughan before allowing him to leave Sunderland.

in todays prices I think 1 million is a low price for Vaughan. Good luck to him wherever he goes. That goal against the mags was worth a million of anyones money

That is a hell of a lot of footballer for £1m. He is 100% premiership quality and that fact that you can buy that for £1m is going to very good business for someone. This is only a reflection of him being in the last year of his contract.

I think it is a shame that he's given 2 years of his talent warming our bench.

I think it is just a case of managers never really fancying him because of a total lack of physicality and his incredibly shy and mild character. He's just such a meek bloke. I remember meeting him and his young son at work and in the entire conversation, and I'm not even slightly intimidating as a character, he didn't look me in the eye and I had to ask him to speak up as he had such a quiet voice. All I remember is standing next to him (in fairness I'm 6'2" and I'm not a slight build) and thinking if I was standing next to him the the tunnel on the way out to a game, I'd just think I was going to run through him. God knows that the likes of Fellaini must think.

I wish him the best of luck if he does leave. He was only ever 1 stone, 5" and a bit of fire in his belly of being an absolutely top drawer player. His talent is never in doubt for those who witnessed him destroy West Ham at the SOL last year.

Think he's a top championship/lower premiership standard. All the best to him, he's just not right for our aspirations imo

I think the reason hes going so cheap is because hes in his final year. He will be a decent signing for whoever he goes to.

Vaughan was player of the year at Blackpool when Liverpool bought Adams. He is worth more then a million but will never be good enough to win a regular start at Sunderland. I hope he goes to a decent Championship team where he can play week in, week out and show the class he has.

He's a top lad and the 3rd goal last derby game is forever on my Youtube list...

Hope he gets a good deal at a new club.

I think he would probably do well at Hull. It's amazing that mrs Doubtfire hasn't put a bid in. I think he's be better having a year in the Championship.

If he's sold for a million then bad business for the club worth far more than that even in the last year of his contract!

Be happy with 1m.. he won't play much this season if he stays so it's either 1m or him not to play this season and go for zilch

Take him of the wage bill and bring in some new blood. He has been a good servant and deserves playing time.

Not good enough IMO...get shot for a miiion and re-invest in someone better...one great goal against the Mags doesn't make him a "keep-me " player in my eyes!

Thing is with Vaughan is that he is a good championship/premiership bottom 4 sort of player. We need to get rid of these types of players if we ever need to get to the next level. 1 million and maybe an extra 2 million in wages will free up a little more for the transfer pot. We will start to move the last few stragglers now the season is coming. Smaller clubs don't want to waste money preseason on wages so we should see the likes of Cattermole, Vaughan and Bardsley hopefully joining McClean out of the door and thus releasing a fair wack in wages and bringing in Hopefully around the 10 million in transfer fees.
