£12,000 interest on Carroll

Can someone explain to me why Liverpool payed £12k extra on Carroll.

Is this the way transfers work, even if you pay up the £35m up front?

 

they had a deadline to pay the sum by and missed it. late payment charge

 

Surely NUFC must give LFC time to find the money

 

It's very simple really. To have an interest in a player, ie you are interested in buying him, actually costs money. This, along with agents fees, is where a lot of money leaks out of football. To be interested in signing Carroll at the time should have cost £2-3K but the Newcastle board managed to get the Liverpool board to stump up £12,000 just for registering an interest in Carroll!!

We wanted the money upfront, and set a deadline for the money to be paid. Liverpool obviously accepted this deadline but couldn't meet it. £12k interest. Business.

 

Extra 12K for Mike to pocket, just think of all the pies!!

llambias is a fool and has done considerable harm to NUFC with his stupid comments. In one stupid statement he has ensured that any clubs with which NUFC negotiate (buying or selling) will be more than wary. The 'hard man' image is very short lasting and rebounds only too easily. He clearly demonstrates that he has very little understanding of the negotiating process and the business etiquette that surrounds them.

LFC will not need to seek revenge on their own behalf, they can sit back and watch whilst others do it for them.

 

Looks like Llambias took advantage of the newby American owners.

The Yankees will learn from this experience.
