Newcastle's financial results for year to June 30, 2015 have been published. Profit after tax was £32.4m. Cash in bank was £48.3m. #nufc
Lee Charnley: "We appreciate that at present time, football results and not financial results are what our supporters want to see from us."
To be fair 32.4 + 48.3M = 80.7 Million. How much did we spend in the summer and January, roughly £80m People applauding Ashley for putting his hand are idiots. He owns the club so I get that its his money, but its the money generated by the business by the fans and media. On the other hand, he could have just taken all the profits and not brought anyone in. We probably wouldnt be in a worse position than we are now!
Considering the profit we make can someone please explain how after 9 years we still owe Ashley £129 million
Think of it like abducting someone, you wouldn’t just leave them unchained, you would chain them up, cover their mouth so they couldn’t scream, put systems in place to stop them from escaping. Ashley is the abductor, we are victim!
I`m pretty useless with figures but can someone help me here. That profit after 2014 and 2015, is it separate amounts each year, so it equals £80million, or is it like a running total and we only had £50million profit Cos we spent another £30million in Jan2016, so is that the profit for this year spunked as well? I`m clueless. about all this. Anyone??
No you can't just add the profit on the accounts to the actual cash in bank, the accounts are purely a paper exercise it doesn't mean that there is another lump of money sitting there, they are a snapshot of performance as of that time. The club only has the cash in bank which is a measure of liquidity and will have to be used to pay wages and other operating costs month by month and is not just there to pay for transfers, significant payments such as PL prize money and transfer fees will come at times but are not a weekly income meaning that the club has to have cash reserves to meet day to day costs.
It is only a snapshot of the clubs performance and is only truly accurate as of the time they are prepared, profit in accounts does not mean that the club necessarily has that in real cash terms as you have a constant flow of expense by day, week, month and year, people seem to forget that there are a multitude of other costs beyond players wages and transfer fees involved with the operation of the club, I would hate to have to pay the business rates for the ground and training facilities alone along with electricity, gas and water.
The cash position (indeed all these figures) is from 30th June last year so it's hard to know what our position is now. You would imagine less than £10m given the spending this season.
