Chelsea fail to land striker on deadline day - bid for League Two FLOP rejected
CHELSEA reportedly saw a £2m deadline day bid rejected for Bristol City star Antoine Semenyo.

The 19-year-old had been on loan at Newport since the summer but was this week recalled to Lee Johnson's side to aid the rest of their Championship campaign.

Semenyo hardly lit up League Two during his short loan stint, scoring three times in 13 league appearances.

But the youngster has reportedly caught the eye of Chelsea chiefs, who were keen to snap him up before the end of the January window.

The publication claims the Robins want to keep Semenyo at the club until at the least the summer.

The forward joined Bristol City from SGS College and has previously been sent out on loan to Bath Town.

Semenyo would have likely been sent out on loan by Chelsea, who have a history of sending vast amounts of youth talent elsewhere.

The club have over 40 players currently enjoying temporary stints away from Stamford Bridge.

Lucas Piazon was the latest to be shipped out on deadline day to Italian outfit Chievo.

Michy Batshuayi also secured a short-term switch to Crystal Palace.

But some fans aren't too happy about the move.

"Can we like use him sometime eventually," one angry supporter wrote on Twitter.

"I hope he doesn't come back to this unprofessional club," one said.

"Given the recent results against Bournemouth and Arsenal that is ridiculous," one wrote.

"Michy Bashuayi is not a bad striker. I think he should be recalled to Chelsea," added one.

"We could use him to solve chelsea striking issues...he is a talented player," said another.

"This guy is a versatile player and he's quick with the ball he should be part of the team the first team," one wrote.

"Don’t really get this decision. Giroud isn’t good enough, Higuain might flop.. after recent performances we need different ideas," wrote another.

Chelsea signed Christian Pulisic and Gonzalo Higuain in January.

The former has been loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the season.

The league bosses need to stop Chelsea trolling all the other club's youngsters and leave some available for the rest of the divisions. It's rather like the massive fishing fleet that I saw out in the middle of the Pacific taking every fish in sight and sending it back to their lord and masters in China. I think Chelsea and China need to be stopped being solely self serving. Miserable day here so hence the moan. Come on City brighten my day please.
