Just looking back through some old threads. http://www.not606.com/threads/arsen...r-michu-after-yesterdays-shock-defeat.225305/
As things have conspired given his current injury plight, that £25m would have been the best bit of business we could have ever done. Absolutely no way to know that his ankles and head would go the way it did though.
Attitude was his big downfall, and Napoli have seen it too, he will go for next to nothing this summer, though I'm sure Huw will not lose on his £2 Million value if he can help it...........
From a monetary perspective Michu was outstanding value. I thought his attitude was great until a combination of player unrest, anti-Spanish sentiment and his body letting him down that he became fractious.
I wouldn't say anti Spanish sentiment, I'd say Monk was just clearing out the trash *runs to find his tin hat*
From the moment Chico Flores took over from Monk in the back four there was resentment at foreign players and manager & not for the first time
I wish he'd been like Amat and Rangel, who kept their heads down and got on with things, he will be back in Spain most likely this summer.
Chico never took over from Monk in the back four. There were others before Chico including Caulker etc
As Swansea City officially said their goodbyes to Wilfried Bony, there were reports in Italy that they could be about to see the arrival of a rather unexpected striker. Swansea cashed in on Bony and it looks like business well done from the point of view of the Welsh club's finances at least. A big fee for the striker will certainly be useful to the club and given that he wanted to move, it was probably best to sell when his value was at its peak. Swansea had been in a similar case with Michu not so long ago, when several Premier League clubs were ready to pay big fees for him but Swansea instead were insistent he'd stay. Michu then saw form and fitness issues and his value plummeted. He's currently on loan with Napoli until June but is in Spain right now recovering from injury and the Italian club's manager Rafa Benitez isn't counting on Michu for the future. The situation is so dire that Corriere dello Sport in Italy claim that Michu could head back to Swansea before the end of his loan, during the current transfer window. That would allow him to continue his recovery from injury and then perhaps try and somehow get back to his old form. Right now, Napoli and Benitez aren't too interested in his future. Swansea would have to agree to any return because Napoli are currently covering his wages and would obviously like that to stop if the loan ended. Follow us on Twitter @Sport_Witness
So Monk has a resentment for foreign players and then goes and buys Fabianski, Montero, Gomis, Fernandez, Barrow, Emnes and Gylfi?? Hmmm.
I think Michu not only burnt his bridges at Swansea City, he packed them with C4 and blew them to bits! I can't see us taking him back this month under any circumstances.
This is very true, but never say never, though I doubt we will ever see him again in a Swansea shirt...............
I think we saw the best of him in that glorious first season and we should move on now. Bony took over his mantle for a while and now he's gone it's time for someone else to step up...Gomis??
