Dreadful news. He was my favourite player as a kid. I absolutely loved watching him and remember buying my first bat from Holt & Haskell when he was involved. They had one of his signed bats on display and I remember thinking it was enormous. In my mind the handle was as thick as my arm.

The current crisis was largely triggered by the Covid lockdowns which shut the court system down, although it's clear there are other problems and productivity is lower than pre-Covid. Justice is one of the areas where government spending is actually worthwhile so in the short term you have to...

I've never really understood buying fake shirts. For me the main reason to buy a shirt is to support the club and give them a bit of money. Football shirts rarely look good so I'm definitely not buying them for their appearance. Each to their own I guess.

If you don't understand the importance of jury trials then that's your problem not mine. There's no need for hyperbole. As the former Appeal Court judge Lord Devlin put it "Trial by jury is more than an instrument of justice and more than a wheel of the constitution, it is the lamp that shows...

Liz Truss briefly spiked the cost of government borrowing. This government seeks to remove a fundamental, centuries-old right, which is a powerful method of protecting people against against the power of the state. To suggest those two things are even remotely comparable is just mind-blowingly...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy7vdvrnnvzo Now they're seeking to remove the right to trial by jury in most cases. One of the most fundamental British rights. This may well be the worst government in our history.

Probably only Scienza could get away with saying that.

Tonda Eckert named new Head Coach

True but they're not in great form. My main point is I'm interested to see how Tonda and the team react when the opposition don't allow us to do what we did against Charlton.

Tonda Eckert named new Head Coach

In a funny way I'm actually more interested in our results against weaker opposition. The bigger teams will generally be happy to attack us and we saw at the weekend that when teams play aggressively against us we have attacking players with the pace and skill to get in behind them and score...

Wouldn't want to be in that Charlton dressing room right now. You can tell just by looking at him that Jones is absolutely furious. Definitely a volcano about to erupt!

Wow. I don't hate Jones as much as some but it is quite nice to be give his team a savage bumming.

Wow. Armstrong really did his best to screw that up didn't he?

Fair point. I suppose I just have that baked in when it comes to Crawley. He'll come off every now and then but he often gets out early.

I don't see any particular reason to be concerned about Wood, beyond the fact it's Mark Wood and he's prone to something snapping at any moment. You'd expect him to be used in short bursts and 11 overs out of 75 isn't too far off his share. We bowled them out cheaply in the first innings, his...

Tonda Eckert named new Head Coach

I'd prefer a permanent manager in before Christmas so he can assess things before the January window and yeah, if Tonda was given the job now I'd be concerned. Two decent but unspectacular wins over poor sides just isn't that impressive. If we start winning (and ideally playing well) against the...

Was just thinking the same. He's better bowling to left-handers too so I'd definitely get him on with Carey and Starc at the crease.
