Match Day Thread Bristol City vs QPR

Well, I was wrong about this one, thankfully. Great win against a decent team. Varane immense, but lots of solid performances. I like the fact that Stephan has been booked two games in a row (I don’t know what for). Proper commitment.

A non-impact sub, just like for us. They were trying to offload him in the summer. Cheers Dave. I have a feeling we might get found out today.

And last season we didn’t exceed 12 points until the 17th game….

I think the league position could be flattering and that a few fans are getting overexcited. I’ve enjoyed some of the football I’ve seen from us recently, it’s refreshing after the Cifuentes crab-ball they are all enjoying at Leicester. But we really haven’t dominated a game yet, just look at...

Fascinating until you see that they reckon Kolli gets £26k ……a season (with a potential £6.5k bonus!) which tempts me to ignore the lot…..

Sounds like another classic QPR v Oxford game. Heartbroken that I can’t watch tonight.

It’s Shakespeare time, yay! Or perhaps not in this case. Measure for Measure is a weird and quite nasty play at the best of times, but when all the stuff which is meant to make it a comedy is cut out you are left with a nauseating tale of powerful men exploiting women, which in this case has...

The home fixture last season was the worst game of professional football, apart from England v Ireland in the 1990 World Cup, that I have ever witnessed in the flesh. Cheers Dave. Can we have Jim Smith as managed both?

Draw! I was right! If you find yourself wandering along Warwickshire canals the Fleur de Lys, Tom O’Wood ad Durham Ox are excellent places to recharge your batteries even better when you have a support barge offering booze and food along the route.

On a 60th birthday canalside pub crawl. Inadvertently had 3 pints in second pub when I was supposed to have one. Could get messy. I predict a big win. Or draw.

What a shame that this tournament, which is generating $147m in ticket sales alone, isn’t on free to air TV. The European players at least don’t get paid for it, what is all the money spent on? Oh, it goes to those famous charitable organisations, the PGA and the DP World Tour. Not a bad start.

You can do that without introducing an ID card, which will cost a lot of cash and isn’t even an ID card, it’s a right to work chit. Just 2000 fines for employers last year. So either it’s not actually a big problem or Work and Pensions is too lazy/inept/understaffed to pursue wrongdoers. It’s...

Pensioners are exempt apparently. I’ve no problem with ID cards, used to carry them decades ago when I lived in Hong Kong and later Italy, but anyone who thinks they will make any difference to illegal immigration or black economy workers is daft. Employers taking on people on lower than...

Govt under pressure to support the JLR suppliers in trouble because JLR did not protect itself against cyber attack. And also, unlike M&S, did not insure itself against cyber attack. Here’s an idea - how about JLR/Tata support their suppliers? After all, if the suppliers go down, so does JLR...

Aren’t those boozers some way from Hillsborough? Richard Hawley fans might want to try The Grapes or The Greystone (which has good live music). Cheers Dave. This one is a proper test of improvement - we are not good enough to relax against a team fighting for its life.
