Apparantly Blackburns owners have produced a booklet listing their unwanted players with details of their salaries and bonuses.A take away menu from the classless Venky brothers. However,2 things come out of this for me: 1) how overpaid mediocre footballers are..check out the deal Keith Andrews (yeah I said who? too) has got. 2) Aren't you glad FSG are our owners..a quantum leap in class. How embarrasing to be a Blackburn Rovers fan this morning (not that it wasn't already)
Keith Andrews is on £21,000-a-week and an extra £2,000 for every game. His wages also increase every time he plays five Premier League games - and an annual extra payment of £26,667. MK Dons are also entitled to 10% of any profit over his purchase price of £1 million. • Vince Grella is on £30,000-a-week with a further £6,000 a game. Blackburn are asking for a £500,000 loan fee if he goes - and all of his salary paid. • El Hadji Diouf is also on £30,000 a week and a further £5,000 per game. All of his salary would need to be paid if West Ham want to take him on loan. • Nikola Kalinic is on a flat rate of £30,000 a week and soon set to join Juande Ramos' side Dnipro.
30k a week..... unreal. This is the type of stuff that grinds my gears ( shoudl probably put this on that thread). NFL and NBA are going on strike because they feel they are not getting paid enough.......what?? In this economy, give me a f***ing break. If you don't piss away your money you are set for life or at least have the money to do other things ( Real estate, open gyms, etc).
Unless you have some very good financial advice, it's not unusual for footballers and other professional sportsmen to live up to and even beyond their means. After all they are paid for their supposed skill and expertise and most of them have liitle formal education.
Jesus and i thought my £800 per week for sitting on an internet forum was extortionate. I knew i should of been a below average footballer
One reason why the NBA enforce you must be 19 before you can play pro, ie you need to go to a year of college. Teams were spending big money on high school kids and the kids would not live up to the hype and blow away and all finances. For every Lebron you have 10 flops.
Football teams do force their youngsters in to education. I used to go to College with a whole bunch of Col Utd youngsters. OK it was an NVQ in sports and recreation and a community sports leaders award but they had to do it otherwise they would have been out. These we'ren't just the random maybe kids either, both Lomana Lua-Lua and KK Opara were on that course and both were seen as massive prospects at the time (LuaLua ended up playing for Colchester, Newcastle & Olympiacos while KK played for Colchester & Leyton Orient). If Colchester do it then you can bet that premiership clubs do as well (Didn't David Gill's son recently turn down pro forms with Man Utd to go to Uni? - he must have been at college whilst being at utd as a trainee to get offered a place)
And to think he once wore a liverpool shirt..shanks would be turning in his grave at that thought.Simply the most obnoxious player that i have ever seen,,and there has been some serious contenders mostly wearing manure shirts
Well said. I hate that man. An absolute disgrace. Should never have earned what he has from football.
I actually saw him once, when I was living in Liverpool. He was at a petrol station in his huge black Land Rover, with Black tinted windows (what a douche) talking on his mobile phone. The Station attendent came out and told him he wasnt allowed to use his phone at a petrol station. Diouf answered him with; 'I'm El Hadji Diouf' and continued to talk on his phone. The attendent walked over to him and said 'It doesnt matter who you are, you cant use your phone here' and waited until Diouf had hung up. What a tool!
