With all due respect, and this is on no way a pop at pops or any other mod for that matter. But, none of us previous mods were shown what to do, but lets be honest for a minute, it isn't rocket science is it? it's time and effort that is required.

I agree the technical side of things like putting a match day thread together is challenging, but there are others who can do that such as yourself who did a fantastic job, has have others since.

Also for the record, it should be a Sunderland fan that moderates the site and again, that is in no way a dig at Tel or QWOP, both of whom have my respect, i just feel it should be one of us.

    Just my twopenneth worth like.

There is many a good poster on here who I would be happy as a mod.
Some for there own reason do not want the job and that's fine.
I have respect for those mods in the past who put their time and effort into this board.
I will support our new mods and feel they will slot in fine.
Keep up the good work we need people like your good selves.

I grew up pre TV (Yes, there was such a time) and, while I`m not scared of messing about with computers by any means I am wary of the damage I could do by experimenting. That`s the difference.

If I bugger up my own things that`s fine, it`s mine. If I start clarting about on here and bugger things up for a lot of other people that`s not fine. That`s my concern.

Bri has explained how to do some useful things so I`m not incapable of learning but I do shy away from experimenting on my own for the above reason.

Reticent is probably a good way to describe it.

I think you've misinterpreted what i was saying mate. I'm like you, i'm a ****ing dinosaur as well :) seriously though, i'm no techno geek and don't pretend to be, i leave all that **** to others who know what they are doing.

All i was saying is that no one gave me a set of instructions on how to Mod this site and i might be wrong but i think this is the way it has been down the years. But it isn't rocket science either is it? it just requires a lot of time and effort. Having done the job before i know what is involved and what you guys do and my hat is off to whoever is in the seat at the time. You have my respect and backing.

I know you weren`t having a go mate.

I figured out the basics ok (slowly and carefully) and if I can do it anybody can but it would have been handy if someone had pointed out the extra functions and what they did.

I haven`t figured out how to send the site into oblivion yet but I`ll get there. <laugh>

    I can do that<laugh>

But i get what Welder is saying. Its basically trial and error. Ive made loads of mistakes. Deleted threads. Merged the wrong stuff. Letting myself taking sides in a losing argument. Being abusive to good people. All sorts.

Now im more chilled. Safc lads are my priority. Im not having twats from outside come on. Kick off and our lads coping the backlash. Its only the Cardew incident that im here.

That was more or less my mentality mate, look after our own and **** the rest. As you say, a lot of it is trial and error and learn from your mistakes, but i did have some good back up i could turn to if needed, yourself and Rog included as were Sid and Nad, all good lads and lots of experience. They're all still around so if anyone is struggling i'm sure they'll be happy to help.
