Call me petulant, because I think that behaviour is good, I'll let someone else.

 

A general point to who and what? I thought everywhere else was doom And gloom and this was where the happy clappers lived?

 

I'm more than happy to knock one up, see if I can get a winning run going.

 

Having had time to reflect on this dissapointment of last night all we can really do is move on. Things will only go from bad to worse if we continue to mope. Yes it's very very sad that we haven't gone through but
- we have a big game at the weekend. Big as in a fantastic opportunity to get a win and maybe get a run going. We have have a tricky but winnable run of fixtures and racking up a fair few points before and after Xmas will do wonders for morale.
- we are in a semi-final. Yes it's Liverpool and yes it's going to be very hard. But this is the cup and I'm sure Puel won't be naive enough to treat it like he did last night. Plus we may have found some and go into the game positively. There's a lot of fixtures between now and then to put things right.
- we have a decent team that's just not firing at the moment. They will turn it around, we have seen them do it.

It's not a lot to go on, but here's to a win on Sunday.

 

No Austin. Hope the swelling goes down soon so we can see the damage done.

I think (though I can't speak for cbk, only my interpretation) it was general tongue in cheek commenting expecting some to have a go for people being negative etc.

And that a lot of the more positive people, though admirable it is, refuse to accept any possible criticism of the board/manager/players or any negative issues to do with Saints. Which to be fair we clearly have a fair few of right now.

Yes, last night was an opportunity wasted but all is not lost yet for this season and we are in fact in a better position than this time last year with an opportunity to return to Europe via the EFL Cup and we are closer to 6th place by points.
The biggest worry is the lack of goals, but there is a transfer window coming up and I expect some activity to address this issue.

 

My point was where are they? Tongue cheek when no-one was like that!

Anyway - I've had enough now.

 

I don't think we've got a chance in hell of qualifying for Europe via the league tbh... and that's not based on last night.

 

I agree that our best chance is through the EFL Cup, but people were saying the same last season right up until the end of January last season, things can change fast in football, however how unlikely it appears atm.

I agree no one was like that for THIS game... all I said was I don't think he was talking about this game specifically. That's all.

I agree mate but we're currently on track for around 35 goals in the league...

Just think we're the definition of midtable this year.

Exactly, when your only "chances" are Hojbjerg and Bertrand both blasting it 20 yards over the bar you're in trouble. Other than the goal and Maya's header we created bugger all. If you watch the highlights, it's very very poor on our part. It's not about being unlucky, it's becoming all too frequent. The players just didn't look like they gave a ****, and in the end that ruined fan morale. I love being vocal, singing along, and I'll support the team to the end, but I found it very difficult to put effort into supporting the team when they really did give us nothing to cheer. It works both ways.

 

Yeah, you're probably right, but just say that Puel changes the formation and becomes more ambitious and starts playing Boufal and Tadic and the former starts to find his feet in this league and we buy a proven goal scorer in January. Things could change and the outlook might appear a little brighter, not saying that it WILL though!...

 

I really would like to see Boufal and Tadic in the same team at some point.

 

Another factor might be that there will surely be less squad rotation now and the team will be able to build greater understanding through continuity (assuming that we don't sell in January!)

 

Hopefully it adds impetuous to us signing a decent striker in January!
