What makes you think we'll sell him? I don't think we will, he's a big part of our building a future dynasty!
Let's just hope that their 'interest' comes to no avail and if we're going to be serious promotion contenders either this season or next, then we MUST hold on to the likes of Jacob at all costs.
My feelings exactly, Dave. Unless another team offer us crazy money, he is part of our future plans along with youngsters Pritchard, Maddison, Josh, et al.
You're missing the point..... He's worth more now he's got a pay rise and an extended contract. His bigger pay rise will come when he signs for e Everton!
Dynasty!? WTF, we've always been and will continue to be a selling club. The parachute money expires next year, so the only way to make ends meet is to sell off the only assets we have. And regrettably, our Jacob is one of the few worth any money to suitors. We're still 'little Naardge' and in that regard, nothing has really changed since we offloaded Sutton, Fox etc. Sorry, but just what makes people think it will be any different this time around - especially when the owners have stated their aims to just 'plod along' and not fret if we don't get back to the PL anytime soon? Why all this "Dynasty" crap - smell the coffee!
Oh dear, we're wrong. That's a big blow. Might as well close the forum down and just read the facts in the Somerset Times! 1) NCFC is extremely unlikely to get promotion this year. Recent results/performances have demonstrated that perfectly well. 2) Financial constraints (inevitable from next year onwards) dictate the selling of best players, car parks, flour mills, etc. 3) I struggle to see how / why that isn't apparent to any realist supporter? Oh well, you keep smoking the wacky and living with your head in Utopia.
Moxey has stated that we will need to sell to buy (or words to that affect). We all agree that our defense is poor so this is where we should strengthen. If Jacob M stays then who else might we sell to acquire some defenders? Can only think of Brady, Naismith and Klose. Nothing at the moment about any of these three leaving CR. I think Jacob M will be sold if we need to fund defensive players, if no other players leave. If Lafferty leaves in Jan then Hogan could be a target, but once again where is money coming from?
Pretty sound reasoning and really see Brady and perhaps Naismith being sold. I think Klose could still come good, but needs to up his game considerably if he's to get back in the first team. He certainly wouldn't command much of a price on his current form.
Just for the record, I have never smoked whacky bacci nor taken recreational drugs of any kind and I gave up smoking John Player Super Kings over 20 years ago!
Brady and Naismith are a good shout, we have excellen cover for them both with Pritchard and the two Murphys
Agree with this and what CitySlicker says. Brady will go, for decent(ish) money, but where are we going to recoup any funds for Naismith, who hasn't justified anywhere near the price AN paid for him? And Klose - from Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga last year to being dumped out of the check-a-point trophy last night hardly suggests a posse of big money suitors? Hope I'm wrong, bit Ja Murph, Brady and (sadly) Madisson are the only ones I can see interest (and ££) occurring with.
If Maddison is sold before he's had a proper chance in yellow and green, then this season will be my last of having a season ticket. I'll miss the pre-match get togethers, but I'll just have to find something else to do instead.
Only surmising - and probably (definitely wrong ) But this is how NCFC have operated for decades, I see no evidence it will change now. Which would be a crying shame, the Murphy twins, Madison, Thompson etc could be the start of a new era - if they are allowed to be at the club for long enough.
I know that's 'the Dynasty', but I'm not convinced it will happen. I'd LOVE to be proved wrong though.
Every club is a selling club, the trick is selling the right players at the right time. I'd be surprised if we sold any of the young players, partly because we want to keep them but partly because we wouldn't get that much for them. I think the likeliest are Brady and Klose and we should expect around £25m for the pair.
