It was a wild tackle and fully deserved a red card but I still don't understand why David Luiz was holding his LEFT leg when Aguero clearly makes contact with his RIGHT leg. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image At least 3 other players should have also seen red after that incident.
He had an ice pack on his left knee after the game, Aguero must have caught his left knee also. Second time he's done that to Luiz as it happens.
I've watched it a few times now and it looks like his left leg gets stuck in the ground as they both fall over. Let's see if he misses the next game. Luiz should have had a red card earlier for that blatant last man foul on Aguero.
Both fall over You mean when Aguero scythes Luiz in half almost? He's a dirty little ****er, if that happened to him he'd be out for 3 years injured.
They were both airborne during that killer scythe manoeuvre though Studs on the calf usually hurts like hell.
Luiz is a master of feigning injury, he's a little bastard for it, but he didn't exactly need to be Daniel Day Lewis yesterday did he?
It's open to interpretation now though isn't it? If it's a genuine 'accident' and the player is trying to play the ball and is the last man, in the box it's a penalty and a yellow card. If it's completely cynical and you're last man you can still get sent off inside or outside the box. My understanding anyway, haven't seen this incident ether. Think it's called 'double jeopardy' rule or something.
I think you're righ - My understanding: You cannot be sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity in the penalty box anymore, however you can still be sent off if it is violent conduct or other offence coupled with last man/denying goal scoring opportunity. So mistime your tackle = yellow Fly in with your studs up, ref could give you a red
Almost right - but an intentional foul to stop a goal is/should be a red card still - you have to be seen to be making a genuine attempt at the ball for it to be a yellow/ Outside the box is a definite red card if you're "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity"
