Squad rotation is all well and good, but it feels like that has also hindered the players from being able to gel and get a run of games together, like Bertrand said in one of his pre match interviews.
Blimey. You're more often than not, not happy! I've been more often happy over he last set of record breaking years. This time next week, we'll be in the semi-finals of the league cuo and knockout stages of Europe. Last year people moaned we were **** in the cups. You couldn't write it. Anyway. Have a good evening all - I'm off to play a game with the kids.
I seem to remember you calling me out when I said Redmond and Austin weren't good enough after the Liverpool game. Glad you've seen the light Tom!
I agree we need a new proven Striker, but there bugger all we can do about that until January at the earliest. If Forster hadn't made that cock up the result would have been different. But overall i reckon we have a good team that had a off day
I can just hear the pundits words that won't be said this evening on MOTD: Southampton had an off-day.
How on earth can picking our strongest team be a poor team selection!???? that's an oxymoron if ever I saw one!
You might be able to make a case for none this season. If you take out penalties and set pieces, then aside from those two Chelsea goals, before today I think all you're looking at is Snodgrass, Zlatan, Deeney, a couple from Inter, and Iheanacho.
I can't believe Redmond is still one of the first names on the team sheet. He's ****ing awful. And I don't care how unpopular an opinion that is.
Only Saints could follow up a 2-0 win at Arsenal with a 3-0 defeat to Palace. I think inconsistency will be the theme of this season. Too many bad points to analyse so I'm just going to grab a beer instead.
A poor team selection doesn't mean you picked a poor team full stop. It means that for that game, the wrong team was selected. Which I believe to be true. Thursday is more important and players should have been rested. Understand?
Would it? Says who? We still conceded two other goals. We still hardly created a decent chance. If you're just assuming that, because "it's just Palace", then personally I disagree. Boufal and Cedric sounded like they had good games. But the rest?
I completely disagree. Granted he's being played out of position a lot, but I don't see much positive from him and he frustrates me endlessly.
I don't have any real concerns with Boufal, beyond the fact that it'd be nice to pair him with another Boufal. And a striker.
It's a shame that his best couple of games have come for us at a time when Tadic is missing. Boufal and Austin both coming off today presumably means both will start on Thursday. If Tadic is back for that one, things could be looking good (albeit wouldn't necessarily leave us in a great position come Sunday).
