The Cubans in Florida are rejoicing ( but of course have no intentions of returning) but the Cubans still there seem to be mourning his death.

Is this a turning point for Cuba? If so is it for the better?

I gather Castro once locked up a former ally and then forced him to eat another prisoner's excrement, so somehow Adams & Thornberry seem strangely fitting representatives.

    Que??

Only joking. Great actor. Worked superbly well with John Cleese in fawlty towers. Will never forget him saying in a thick Spanish accent, I from Bar-cel-ona. Was he really 86? I think of him as a 40 year old Spanish waiter in fawlty towers.

Not too sure Gerry is there to represent anybody from the UK - with all due respect. Comrade Fidel is one of his heroes. Shame the poor people of Cuba are starving at the hands of Fidel and his Brother Raul. If Gerry had his way, Ireland would follow Cuba's lead. Long live capitalism.

What a shame that his passing cannot be reported without mention of that appalling episode featuring the combined 'comic' talents of Messrs Brand & Woss. A pair of ****s if ever there was.

Agree Ubes.......those 2 are not fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Andrew Sachs........he was a fine actor and deserving of the tributes that are being paid to him by genuine friends........

Gutted to hear the passing of Micky Fitz, lead singer of one of the best Oi/Punk bands ever known, The Business, who I've seen live many times.

    'What's his name...HARRY MAY' !!!

    RIP Micky

Another loss to the music industry.

Daddy Cool didn't stay around very long but they gave us some great tunes, notably Eagle Rock .............. an Aussie classic indeed.

Daddy Cool bass player Wayne Duncan dead, aged 72

Wayne Duncan of legendary Australian band Daddy Cool, has died, aged 72.

Duncan was a major reason why Daddy Cool was so cool. His death comes nine months after guitarist and fellow Daddy Cool founding member Ross Hannaford died. According to music website Noise 11, Duncan suffered a stroke last week.

A friend of Wayne Duncan, Craig Horne, released a statement on behalf of the Duncan family.

"It is with deep sadness that I let you know... that our great friend Wayne Duncan passed away in the early hours of this morning," Mr Horne wrote on Facebook today.

Daddy Cool in the '70s. Clockwise from front, Ross Wilson, Wayne Duncan, Ross Hannaford and Gary Young.
Together with Hannaford, singer Ross Wilson and drummer Gary Young, Duncan propelled Daddy Cool to the top of the Australian charts. The band's debut album Daddy Who? Daddy Cool was released in 1971, including the hits Eagle Rock and Come Back Again.

Daddy Cool formed in 1970 and made an enormous impact before breaking up in August, 1972. As well as climbing the local charts, playing sell-out shows, including a memorable Sunbury appearance, the band also toured overseas.

Daddy Cool briefly reformed in '74 and years later were warmly welcomed back on stage as part of the Melbourne Tsunami Benefit Concert in 2005.

Other Daddy Cool classics with Wayne Duncan's distinctive, laid-back bass lines include Bom Bom and Hi Honey Ho, which remain on high rotation on radio and fan's stereos today.

Daddy Cool was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006 and the original line-up with Duncan played their last show together in 2014 when they were inducted into The Age Music Victoria Hall of Fame.

What a wonderful actor Peter Vaughan was, I couldn't believe it when he popped up in Game of Thrones. I hope he called Jon Snow a long haired yeti off screen.

Desperately sad news, Lake was such an influential part of my musical teens first with King Crimson and then ELP. Our past is slipping away before our eyes...
