To repeat a conversation we had a few days ago; Klopp put a second string out against Spurs (he didn't know they were going to do the same at the time)

Plus, I think it's **** to play the second string only to revert to first choice in the final stages.

I don't think this cup is a priority for us. maybe for the smaller clubs out there :bandit:

We have just done well to get to where we are with the team that's played.

Let them continue, its good experience for them, we go out so be it. top 4 is priority for now.

Not going to go over old ground then. <ok>
On your second point - it doesn't matter who has played up to that point, who is going to pick a team on sentimentality?
What matters is how much he wants the trophy. If he wants to win it he'll field a team to win it, regardless of who played in earlier rounds. If he doesn't think it a priority then he'll stick with the second string.

    That much is obvious.

My fear is that he'll do neither and/or cannot make up his mind. Wenger has decided well in advance that this cup is not his priority and he was almost pleased he left the comp. Klopp would like to try his youngsters, rest his key players but also wants to reach the final at least because the fans would love it. So he'll try to win it with some of the youngsters. Not impossible but this kind of half hearted approach will not succeed when some of the oppostion keep their very best teams for this comp.

In the end.... the squad isn't big enough but when you get to a semi you go win the comp.

    end of.

if you play the puss like wenger cos there's two legs in the semi and you cannot be arsed to win stuff then you will be like spurs and arsenal who win nothing, acheive nothing and tip along thinking thats just fine.

We are in a semi final. worse the reality is utd are i nthe final in all but name and if we don't man the **** up and go try win this they will

so... I couldn't give a stuttering **** about league games around this semi final and tired legs. they need to play these games and win every game they can... end of.

We can dream but on a 2 legged tie I cannot see Hull beating the Mancs who will put their strongest line up possible.

    Klopp won't do a Wenger

#legit second choices like Mignolet will play, but if Sturridge is unavailable he puts Mane in, not some #nomark

The strength of the side will depend on who we draw in the 3rd of the FA Cup, I believe we play that game before the 1st leg of the Semi's.
"No disrespect" but if we pull a lower division team out of the bag for the 3rd round, then he could go with the kids in that fixture and go with a stronger side against the Saints away.
Gonna be a bloody hard game, they're no easy nut to crack and they won't be as bad going forward as they were against us in the league.
If we do win this fixture, it won't be by much, good team, good players!

    you are right.

the FA cup 3rd round is the 7th January

The league cup semi is the 9th january.

the issue being the prior games

    December
    4th Bournemouth A
    11th West Ham United H
    14th Middlesbrough A
    19th Everton A
    27th Stoke City H
    31st Manchester City H

    January
    2nd 15:00 Sunderland A

The REALITY is this is not a bad fixture list until you play City then sunderland. I feel its the sunderland game we will see a reserve side in.

We play sunday, sunday, wednesday, monday nigh v evertont, tuesday the 27th then saturday and monday of the one weekend.

our cup rivals southampton have to do the same thing.

I think the FA cup WILL be a reserve irrespective of who we draw. That gives a week between sunderland away and the league cup semi final

the second semi is later in the month. after swansea game.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO PLAY KIDS AND THE DREGS. WE ARE LIVERPOOL WE PLAY TO WIN OR WE CLOSE THE DOORS

If all goes well, he'll most likely use Sunderland away as Coutinho's comeback game and then again in the first leg of the EFL cup..
Sunderland away may feature a "weakened" side.. but, assuming we're lucky with suspensions and injuries, I can see us playing a full strength team all the way up to and including the City game.
We've "only" got 6 games in the month of December, which, lets be honest, shouldn't be too much for these guys!

The position we are after city game can detremine so many things. If we at top of the legue or not below 3rd in the league, and the points below the leage leaders is not more than 2.
I trust Klopp he is going to have some ideas.

I really don't think couinho will be back for sunderland.

But i think the consideration may be how many points do we bag in the month. Those first 5 need to be won. but a draw to everton and 4 wins with a weakened team would be ace. IF however we go and draw 4 or them or something due to injuries then the ressure will be on.

Best i think take each game as it comes.

All depends on injuries and who's playing at the time. Pointless even talking about January.

Mourinho has the advantage of their #seasonover except for the league cup

But we have the advantage of having a proper manager

    #easywin for us

Don't forget the Europa and the FA cup. They are still in it.

You mean the pressure is off him as he is no longer expected to get anywhere near top 4 ? I don't think so.
