Decent game that. I was impressed with Leeds, they gave you a much better game than I expected them to. Had they got the first goal in that 15 minute spell they had after HT then who knows, but once you took the lead there was only one result. You'll draw Hull in the SF nailed on - you spawny twats
Felt Origi looked like he was trying to take the piss or over complicate things in 2nd half. When in the box at one point he could just hit it first time but stopped it, tried to come back inside do a little step over sell a dummy, flick it past, move from one foot to the other and then lost the ball. Looks like es been watching sturridge with fancy flicks and tricks that go no where.
Tbh, I never want to see a team like that put out again. I didn't want to see it last night. There were a handful of decent performances, but overall we were weak. We won, and that's great, but I want to see us take these competitions more seriously. We're in reach of a trophy now, and from now on I'd like to see us field a side designed to win it.
Klopp picked a side he thought could win and we won. Can't moan about team Selection after a victory surely? Performance yes... but not the selection.
The two are related. I'm happy we won, but it might have gone the other way. That team is ok, but not good enough to take on a serious challenge. Rafa continuously fell down in these competitions by assuming that because we're a top team, our second string must automatically be better than a supposedly inferior team's first. I don't know if this is because it's true in other leagues, but it isn't in ours.
But so far we've faced weaker teams and Klopp has picked a team he felt would win. It might have gone gone the other way if we'd played more first teamers. By all accounts Matip, Firm, Lallana, Sturridge, Coutinho were all injured. That's 5 first teamers out injured and needing replacing so options were a bit limited.
I agree. Lucas and klavan were a bloody joke. i couldn't understand how they looked like they never met. Klavan was going for anything lucas should have been going for. It was crazy. Mane looked not bothered. he doesn't seem to own a pair of boots with long studs. Dunno what on earth was going on. Can was wide left.. I honestly have no clue that the **** he was doing there Stewart showed everything i say about him. For me we will field a strong team in Semis. I'm not really sure until we see who we get in the draw and then how much or if we can win the first leg by. However i expect this team again in the 3rd round of fa cup... My thoughts 1. Mingolet. Solid. No reason to whine. 2. TAA. decent. not rash like last time, could have done more positively but for an 18 year old it was fine. Let him play again 3. Lucas. bloody awful and looked like his legs were gone after an hour. All over the place. note his position as CB when TAA crossed. 4. Klavan. HMMMMMMM... I don't rate but he's a decent CB and could play again when called upon but only with matip 5. Moreno. brain dead. christ he is bloody awful. 6. Stewart. no thanks. play can there next time 7. Wijnaldum. obviously first team but wasn't great. 8. Can not box to box. far to much of a ball hog and can't play left side. 9. Ejaria. Not a winger but impressive yuong lad. Needs a position. need to see him play CM where a lallana players. not for me where coutinho plays thanks 10 Origi. Needs games by the look of it 11. mane. give him longer studs on his boots and a slap. the effort was lack there. So all in all. if we played Mingolet TAA Matip Lovern Moreno Can Ejaria Wijnaldum Mane Origi milner I would have been happy enough. Its only take out two players. (lucas and stewart) and move can to this proper position. If we play this side in the 3rd round fo fa cup or league cup second leg having won 3-0 in the first.. fine.. but if we are i nleague cup semi v utd say and we play this i would scream blue murder.
True, but I get the feeling the line-up wouldn't have been very different if they'd been fit. Did Klopp know before the Spuds' game that they would put out a scratch team of their own before he decided upon ours? I doubt it - and I doubt we'd have beaten a strong Spurs team. I'm all for giving young players a chance, but I don't like the idea of wholesale changes from one game to the next.
well.... lets be frank. matip didn't play in international week but still didn't play this one. Thats one ding. He had henderson on bench last night and didn't put him on when stewart and can were awful. I agree that the whole sale changes didn't help However.. that back 5 plus stewart had no excuses. they didn't play for weeks so should have been well drilled together and they were looking shambolic at times. frnakly though.. can wijnaldum and mane.. the senior players were poor.
don't jinx it. arsenal and utd semi final on the other side of draw would however be nice. I think we could beat utd over two legs but arsneal? **** knows. hull in the semi would be interesting.
Regarding the selection debate, it might be over now. I can't see him picking a team that "weak" over the 2 legged SF even if it's against Hull. I would think a few reserves like Ming and Lucas may play but a team with only 2 or 3 first choice players against someone like Arsenal or Utd with a Wembley final up for grabs. Surely not.
This is what I've been saying. Last night's team just about had enough to get through, but from now on we need to be playing as close to our first 11 as possible.
Yep. Against any of the decent side, the team played yesterday would have been smashed. We were lucky that Leeds didn't manage to score when they were on top. So we are all praying for Hull ... but having said that what's the point of going to Wembley or any Final if klopp cannot win one of thsoe So agree with astro. We want the mancs in the SF draw (if they dispose of the Whammers) just to keep them out of Wembley. If they reach it I am afraid they will probably win it.
