So the Carling Cup starts again. Anyone here going to watch it? And what team would you like to see start. Almost our strongest 11? A whole team of reserves/youth? Or a mixture. Earnshaw, Miller, Mcnaughton, Cowie, Blake are all away on international duty. (not sure about Kiss and Gunnarsson). I think Wildig and Farah will be given a run out. Mason and Rudy upfront. Quinn will get a game which is good. Thoughts?
Alright Pagey mate! Was thinking of posting a similar article, but I'll contribute to yours since u beat me to it! Our hero Quinny will be sure to get a run out I would think, pleased to see him on the bench Sat, looks like he's caught up with the boys in terms of fitness.. Reckon he'll stick with Marshy to keep his form from Sat going and maybe play Gyepes and Keinan with Naylor too.. Midfield I think he'll give Macca a run, possibly Conway to get him firing with Whitts, not sure about Kiss but Gunn-show I could've sworn I seen he's been called up for Iceland.. Would rather see Kiss get up to speed but if he's got tight hammys maybe somebody like Farah in there? Beast will play I think, alongside Gestede will be interesting.. I've seen Mason might be called up for the Irish u21s too? Was thinking if going up, but I got shedloads on in work at the mo, so can't get away early enough. U going?
Malky said on Talksport this morning that we had 8 call ups - Miller, McNuggs and Cowie for the Jocks, Darcy and Earnie for Wales and the Gunnar for Iceland. Don't know who the other 2 are, anyone else know. Either Marshall or Heats in goal. I hope he sticks with Hudson and Gezza at cb for consistency. Quiny at rb, I suppose naylor should get a go at lb (if only to stop him whingeing about not making the 16 for Sunday). Conway and Whitts for sure in midfield. I would like to see Kiss play unless called up for Slovakia and then maybe Taylor to left mf. I'd go for Rudy and Mason up front. I can't see Macca playing as he didn't feature v. Port Talbot the other night - only just started training so a bit off full fitness yet and shouldn't be risked so early. Ironically we can have 7 subs in the Carling (all cup games I think) and Malky said he would have 3 youngsters on the bench. I think that will leave us with the keeper not starting, Gyepes and Keinan (unless called up for their countries) and the Beast. Have I missed anyone? Isn't it crazy we only get 5 subs for Championship games? I could understand Divs. 1 and 2 but not ours. Looking forward to my first trip to the Kassam.
I'll be there. Really looking forward to it - even if we will be playing a 'reserve' side with a few youngsters on the bench. With a bit of luck McPhail could be given 45 minutes. Would like to see Gestede start after the glimpse we had of him on Sunday. Give Naylor a game, might as well as he won't get another one for a while (we all hope).
