The problem with the Fox and Coney is, and always has been Enterprise. When our owner took it on, he was given a solid deal. Then, once we were making a profit, they doubled the rent costs and the other fees. Being trained in a real ale background, I wanted to get more local craft ales, but they wouldn't let us. They were happy to let us put thousands in, but not to happy to let us make any money. We tried to do all sorts, improve the rooms (which badly needed it), redo the bar, get a live music album, all these things needed money and none were paid for. We even had to pay £2000 a month ourselves for sky. I take issue with anybody who knocks the owners of these places, as they do work like sod to keep them going, but Enterprise don't care. They just don't give a ****. The Bear Inn has potential, its problem is that the land at the back doesn't belong to Enterprise. That's why it's never been developed. It's poorly looked after and the flat upstairs has been repeatedly owned by scruffy ****s and has fallen into disrepair. The whole place just feels grubby and while I've had many amazing nights in there, it's just not worth it when there are so many good pubs in Beverley.
I don't think anyone has criticised the tennants? The finger of blame is firmly pointed at Enterprise. I thought the land behind the bear was all owned by the pub? They are both pretty dire and in desperate need of a change of ownership.
The Bear isn't currently showing as being available, it seems to have a permanent tenant at the moment.
Highways England @HighwaysEngland @hullcity_pfa .. Thanks very much for tweet .. we're aware of the Hull v Newcastle fixture Tues 19:45.. we are liaising with contractors No idea if these means they plan to do anything about it or not?
A dark night in Hull. No Latte's or Tapas after 6 pm in Hull town centre and no way back home for the East Riding lot. Its like a middle class version of The Warriors.
I want to watch that film. No. I want to make that film. And cast it with posters from here. Warriors. Come out to play.
As long as I can fight close combat, no guns, I can literally rend people limb from limb, sprayed in blood, I'll be a happy camper.
Common sense applied... Highways England @HighwaysYORKS There will be no overnight closure on the #A63 at Priory Way, Hull, this evening.
Talking of traffic, no mention from the chattering classes of the A63 Castle St madness both ways which causes massive hold ups both ways, alleged cause being pedestrian crossing lights controlled by Highways England.
