Our transfer policy is truly rank.....hopefully that will be addressed as we spend millions on players with little to no sell on value.
Must admit i thought Chelsea had paid way over the top at the time. Now i just admit i know **** all. . We could have had him for peanuts perhaps.
someone will pay around 15m for M'Vila...I have no doubt...we baulked at 8.5m...as I say, we are truly 2hite at transfers
We could have signed him, no issues. He loved it here as well. We chose to fanny around and then when Fiorentina saw how much he'd improved decided to keep him and played regularly for them. Rest is history and now he's a regular starter for who I reckon will end up Champions.
Not sure if you're aware but there was a recent (ish) ruling brought in around Marc Bosman where players, when out of contract, move for free... We Baulked because he's out of contract in January. If we're in a position of "chance of safety" then he'll come for free. Loads of paper stories about this and sone say we have a pre contract, others say we haven't. As far as aalonso is concerned, sure there was no one on here thought the money being asked for was worth it at the time so we're all pretty happy we stayed away. Now he looks class in a good side and we all wonder why we didn't sign him? If only all business was done with hindsight eh?
The reports said we had a clause in the loan contract to be able to purchase him for about £5-6m IIRC (might have that wrong and can't find anything with a 2 minute rummage on Google). He'd have been a worldie signing for us at that price, he was far better than I'd guess we all expected. I for one, wasn't happy we stayed away, it was a no brainer to me like.
I think there were several people who always wanted to sign Alonso, he would clearly have been a good signing for us.
Absolute nonsense regarding Alonso. It was reported we'd get him for about five when most on here would have been happy to pay twice that. He was utterly class while on loan at us.
I think what flanders meant is that in a year or two m'vila will go for £15m plus so for us to baulk at 8.5 (even with just 6 months on contract) was stupid business. Presumably the club thought we'd get him for free in Jan but i can't see that happening now personally.
Said we should have signed him, Much better than PVA. But PVA was a much cheeper(But still cost us millions and millions in fee and wages) option and it is Shorts Transfer policy to spend millions on average players rather than pay a bit more for real quality. So we can't complain, Our squad is packed with these sort of players so is exactly how short wants it. We should be grateful we're constantly told by his rim lickers. Squad full of over priced ****e we have and riddled in debt as a result and I should be grateful?
PVA has to be shifted into midfield or dropped, please Moyes give him a chance put O Shea in his place against Leicester I reckon he will do good. And about Swansea away I would settle for 6-5 to us !.
