First saw Billy Bragg supporting the Redskins at Tiffanys. Bloody hell, how long ago must that have been ?
Saw Yachts and Wreckless Eric there. Leaving aside Hull University, Tiffs was first local venue normal folk could get into to see punk/New Wave.
Yes. No evidence to hand, but remember the bootleg from it being on sale at Camden market back in the day. Edit, or it might have been Dingwalls come to think of it.
I saw the Pogues at Tiffs, they never used the dressing rooms provided, they just sat at the nearest table to the stage and staggered on when they felt like it ..... Great gig
Then he would have found out that the wife has three great attributes; intelligence, a Swiss army knife and charm. Oh and it's true that he would have seen some naked men.
Saw the Wreckless One supporting Squeeze at the City Hall about 1979. Awesome. I'd have travelled the whole wide world... etc.
Welly started punk in Spring 79- Rough Trade tour first concert IIRC Spizz, Raincoats, Kleenex? Tiffs had had punk in 78
Spring St Theatre used to be a great venue also. I saw the likes of Killing joke, Meteors, Attila the Stockbroker ( supported by Swift Nick) and Swansway there.
Do Not Worry You're Pretty Lacquered head about the your only as good ad your last. And Your record Is still Intact.
Wreckless Eric - Eric Goulden as he then was - used to play The Bull on Bev. Road with his (Art College project) band - Ruby and the Takeaways. In 1976, before he ever signed to Stiff. Brilliant hot, sweaty, drink-laden Friday nights!
