If your insteps are hurting then you may be rolling on your feet as you run and push off from your instep more than the balls of your feet. Could be worth going to your local (decent) sports shop and asking about insoles to help even the weight. Pretty sure that's what my bro suffered with and insoles eased it quite a lot.

Tash are you going out and measuring the football pitch yourself? I don't think football pitches the council n that made are the same size as the one at St James' Park at least I think they aren't as the pitches I have all seen are noticeably different sizes.

  6. No no lol. I'm basically estimating. It's most likely not exactly 300m but i reckon it's probably a little bit over or under idk and idc. It's around 300m anyway.

btw i'm not using the council football pitches. I just used football pitches as a type of measurment.... why i don't know... lol.

    Here's something that might help

Hi Tash if you want to know how far you're running try the website mapmyrun. It uses Google earth maps to measure how far you are running.

I've been running for about 7 years or so and the general rule of thumb is that 10 minute miles are a good steady pace. If you're a little short don't worry you'll get up to pace really quickly. I could barely manage 1 mile when I first started. Try adding Fartlek bursts into your run (100m sprint followed by gentle recovery jog x 6). The increased intensity will train your body to process oxygen more, teach your body to run more efficiently which will all aid your speed.

Some gyms have good rates for those unemployed or on some sort of benefits, I'm sure you can apply for some sort of health card at the local council. I often use the new gym in Dunston, it's pretty good and the rates for the gym and pool are pretty good even without the benefits. <ok>
