Would take him with open arms, quick, nows where the net is,would suit city's style of play- Could Bristol City spend Jonathan Kodjia sale money to secure Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells? please log in to view this image Huddersfield Town are resigned to losing star striker Nahki Wells when the transfer window reopens in January. The 26-year-old Bermuda international has rejected the offer of a new contract at the John Smith's Stadium and could be allowed to leave if a rival club is prepared to match Huddersfield's £8m asking price. And with big-spending Aston Villa having reportedly cooled their interest in Wells, the way is potentially open for other Championship clubs to pursue the proven Championship goal-scorer. On the lookout for a goal-scoring forward themselves, Bristol City could certainly do worse than consider the possibility of joining Norwich and Fulham in the race for Wells, who wants out at Huddersfield after turning down the opportunity to become their highest-paid player. Recruited on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea last summer, Tammy Abraham hit the ground running for the Robins, scoring 11 times in his first 14 outings in all competitions. But the goals have dried up for the teenager, who has netted once in his last seven appearances, and Robins head coach Lee Johnson is prepared to splash the cash in a bid to recruit another striker and provide Abraham with the additional support he needs if he is to shoot the Robins back into play-off contention. City have tried and failed to land expensive goal-scorers in the recent past, missing out on Dwight Gayle and Andre Gray, despite having bids of around £6m accepted for both by Crystal Palace and Brentford respectively. Although it is likely to cost even more to land Wells, his wage demands would not be as high as those of either Gray or Gayle, and City are certainly a more attractive proposition than they were when then-manager Steve Cotterill tried to sign those two 18 months ago. Wells boasts an excellent Championship pedigree, having scored 18 times for the Terriers last season, and he has the ability and experience needed to materially improve City's starting line-up should they make a move for him. City have recently taken to scouring the Continent for affordable strikers, but Wells offers the prospect of being able to hit the ground running in a league he knows well. The sale of Jonathan Kodjia to Aston Villa for £15m – City received a down-payment of £11m – means the Robins have money to spend in January and any move for Wells is likely to be well received by the Ashton Gate crowd.
Benik Afobe has only one league start and only one league cup start, this season and rumoured could be leaving on Twitter
Apparently over on the Huddersfield forum they reckon we are in for him. But nothing like 8 million as he can walk free end of next season. Apparently Rhodes is going to be available as well. These are the guys we need to be signing, both would be excellent, bearing in mind Tammy is owned by Chelsea.
No he didn't Would rather we push the boat right out and go for Assombalonga! Wells would cost 8m when he's nowhere near worth it. BA probably about the same and worth it. Still though, I don't expect any big name/money striker in Jan as clubs don't usually let them go and if they do it's for an over the top amount. We'll either go abroad or loan from the prem, only this time we'll be able to attract better players.
