FIFA has lost the plot over poppies!

Football's world governing body has started disciplinary proceedings against the Football Association of Wales for incidents including "fans wearing poppies" during a recent match.

Do FIFA have a single shred of credibility? We should get the **** out, now. Leave the deplorable ****s to it.

 

The next home game they should organise a campaign for everyone to wear a poppy, and unfurl a huge flag with **** OFF FIFA on it.

 

The cynic in me says that this is an attempt by HIAG to win some favour over an issue that virtually everybody is guaranteed to agree with him on.

The realist in me also says the same.

Do you think FIFA is right to put a ban on all political statements, even ones that commemorate our dead from 100 years ago?

 

Is it even a political message? It's supposed to be a mark of respect for those that died in conflicts.
Part of their investigation is the minute's silence, apparently.

 

In an organisation filled with shame , this one takes the cake .

 

Part of the problem is that FIFA brands this kind of thing as political, whereas to most ordinary folk it is nothing more than a marking of respect for the dead, some of whom are still dearly remembered by thousands of families across the land.

I cannot see that this is a battle that FIFA is every going to win.

I can understand where FIFA are coming from not wanting Political emblems in football, but they are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. The Poppy isn't really a political symbol anyway. Would they object if players wanted to wear a Dove symbol to promote peace ?

Thing we should resign and tell them we are taking our game back and they cant use it any more. We could call it FIXIT.
Was sympathetic of the original warning to the teams as its in the rules but to think they should dictate to fans what they can wear is just ridiculous.
Think they need to start looking at each case from the point of view of who it will offend and making a decision based on that.

 

At end of the day all political statements are banned, its a world body not English or British. As much as we respect and wear the poppies but its a uk thing not world wide and some do see it as a political statement.

Anyways...still wont work case by case..you either allow all or none the way I see it..otherwise it will become a grey area and have to make a decision which one fifa think is worthy and which one not!
