However, at least we were sound at the back and gave little away. Now, we just look like a disorganised shambles, meandering our way from one cliffhanger to the next...
I don't. We go through manager after manager and none of them appear to be able to build beyond 2-3 seasons. Maybe it's symptomatic of the modern game, maybe it's our relatively low spending power, but it frustrates me to no end.
Tottenham are not good enough for the Champions League, simple as that, couple of decent players, a lot of mediocre players and not a strong squad overall.
Last season after poor defeats, Poch would talk about mentality and how it had to change over and over. So what the f**k was that tonight?
It's more the complete lack of experience from the manager down. In our last CL campaign we made a few very wise additions in Gallas and VDV who brought with them a combined total of 15 years of CL experience. That made all the difference and allowed players like Bale, Modric, Assou-Ekotto and Lennon to flourish under the spotlight. We sadly have a manager who appears to be allergic to experience in any way, shape or form.
I don't think it's that. We didn't strengthen in a number of weak positions, we waited too long and the we bought Sissoko. There should be pressure on the starters from quality players waiting on the bench. I don't think that we've got that in various areas and we missed a big opportunity. If Eriksen coasts and isn't playing well enough, then he should expect someone to come in and nick his place. That's not likely to happen to him with this squad.
I don't know whether it's complacency this time or the fact that the players in our last champions league run were just better. I remember the elation of finishing 4th and getting champions league football for the first time and we went into it with no fear. This time it's almost like we expected to get through the group. It's been the same with our Europa league performances on the whole over the last few years. It puts such a downer on the season as why bother even trying to get top 4 when we play like that. i really hope we can go on a good run in the FA cup. I want us to win something. 2 league cups in 25 years is pathetic.

Poch hasn't been able to motivate the team since the Chelsea game. I think that 3 months into this season, that is blatantly obvious. I don't think he trusts himself to do it anymore.
