Always liked Ale, but he never really looked back to his best last season to me, and expect he's better off away from the physical demands of the Championship. Jimmy probably helped him by being honest about how often he'd play.

Hope you have a great time finglas.

Will you be wearing a Rangers shirt in the hope of gaining Ale's attention? If so, tell him that the majority of us would still love him to be playing for us.

Perhaps you can kidnap him & bring him home. Even if it's just to enrol him into Forever R's (or whatever the club is calling the ex players association), or for us just to give him a proper farewell!

Not all will agree, but Ale Faurlin should already be in our Hall of Fame.

Just back from the match. Had a really good day apart from being soaked. It bucketed down all afternoon here. The stands weren't covered so got pissed on. Didn't manage to speak to Ale but I called his name during the warm up and he looked over. I showed him the QPR shirt and he smiled and gave me a big thumbs up. I think he is still an R at heart. Got one or two photos of him during the warm up.

I can confirm he is still playing well and spraying the ball around with his left boot. He played central midfield for the full 90 minutes. In the second half he was much more involved in the action and almost scored with a shot which flew narrowly wide. The match looked destined to finish 0-0 till the 86th minute when Getafe were awarded a penalty which they duly scored to run out 1-0 winners. Met some great people there and chatted with them about Ale. They all seemed to like him and said he is playing well for them. He wasn't man of the match but he certainally played well. A Zaragoza TV station even interviewed me. They were amazed I had travelled so far for the game. I told them I was there to see Ale Faurlin. They wanted to know which team I was supporting. I insisted I was neutral and was just hoping for a good game.

Yes, I enjoyed the people there Terry. They were really friendly. They have a little fans clubhouse. There is a machine which dispenses beer so went there for a chat. I noticed three scarves on the wall, Aston Villa, Brentford and Fulham. They said there are a group of Fulham fans who come over twice a year to watch them play and the two sets of fans go drinking together etc. In the clubhouse they all bring food and have a little party before the game. Very civilised.

A mate of mine spurned Sporting and Benfica while in Lisbon and went to see Belenenses instead. The club chairman opened up the shop for him (it was in the boardroom and had 3 scarves) and treated him like a king. I love seeing football in Europe, I have never failed to find kind and generous people, fascinated to know why I would want to see their team play, even at some big clubs.

Travel broadens the mind. And the belly.

So....who could we set up a fans alliance with? Any ideas? Somewhere sunny and warm in Southern Europe where we can go spend a weekend would be nice.

Not a big club I feel. With the seaside and south the only criteria....
    Belenenses, Vittoria, Boavista, Portugal
    Real Mallorca, Levante Spain
    Palermo, Lecce, Cagliari Italy
    Hadjuk Split, Croatia
    Bastia, Montpellier, France

Despite the miserable weather (the rain in Spain......) glad you had a good day out watching Ale play. I followed the match with quite a good stream and was thinking of you over there. During the match I commented a bit on the "Today's Matches" thread as play progressed - I thought Ale played very well in midfield, with a nice volley on goal, spraying the ball about, breaking up attacks, bailing one of his strikers out with a hard tackle after the ball had been coughed up late on. He seemed really happy too at the final whistle after with the 1-0 penalty victory - Now I thought I saw someone waving a blue & white QPR scarf in a crowd shot at the end - could that have been you, or perhaps I just mistook a blue Getafe scarf?

Anyway, Bon Voyage home to Dublin.

Absolutely. Although it suits most posters positions about JFH to lambast him for this decision as well, I believe 100% of the managers they wanted (and still want) would have made the same decision based on the evidence of the last 4 years of injuries and the physicality of football in England outside the Premier League. Surely they would not all have been wrong. Or even more surely the same posts would not have been made.

I would love to have him back but as an investment in coaching at some point in the near future. Same goes for Clint Hill. Turning it on in the Scottish League where the average standard of football is equivalent to League 1 does not mean that he deserved a place in the starting line up here, particularly for those of you who seem to believe that we have a right to be in the Prem , and that the manager, any manager, should be able to get us up immediately.
