Love him as you know mate and has the right profile for the race. Just the nagging doubt about him being ready for a competitive race like this first time out.
With Yanworth and U'Harry I keep asking myself the question I ask many times. Will JP want them winning today?
Shattered Love 7/4 2.30 Punchestown Will love the soft ground and will appreciate the extra two furlongs.
I'm backing seeyouatmidnight Brian thinks he's nothing to loose and conditions are with him who knows stay frosty xx
My Tent on heavy ground at Haydock is a major worry. Perhaps a few of you have forgotten when he got turned over by late stablemate Chatterbox on heavy, and that was when he had no injury doubts and lay offs. Yanworth on the other hand has no issues on good to soft at Ascot and should have a bit too much zip for the loveable Zarkandar, who has to go down as one of the best yardsticks for top table hurdlers in recent years.
Laser Light Ascot 12.25 - Form of his hurdle debut working out nicely with the 2nd, 3rd and 6th all winning next time out. Vibrato Valtat Ascot 2.05 - Ground will have gone against God's Own and he doesnt really come into his own until Spring. I am fully convinced Dodging Bullets is a non stayer, love the horse to bits though. That leaves VV - He was running a lovely Ryanair on ground quicker than ideal before falling 4 out, can forgive his run at Aintree afterwards. He has been consistantly great since he has gone chasing and the Old Roan will have brought him on a huge deal. Vaniteux Ascot 3.15 (NAP) - Think he should be shorter odds frankly, strong form with Ar Mad, running a scramer in the Arkle before falling 2 out. Back to 2m will suit him perfectly, for me he is a 160+ 2m chaser. Baby King 12.10 Haydock - Won this last year first time out, 3lbs higher, trainer and Jockey on fire. Caid Du Berlais 2.25 Haydock - Back from injury he had nice pipe opener before winning pretty easily next time out, raised 8lbs for that which is pretty fair - he was competitive off this mark in January '15 and this has been targeted by Nicholls. Very good claimer on board and he won the Paddy Power on soft ground so that wouldnt put me off. Betfair Chase - I think Coneygree wins this but i'm not keen at the prices after such a long layoff. I think irish Cavalier is decent value here. He's still only a 7-y-o, arguably in form of his life. Conti doesnt look the top notcher he used to be which is fair given his age and i think last year's tough races might have just taken the edge off Cue Card. IC could still be improving and the yard and are decent nick now.
Now the dust has settled a couple for me at Huntingdon tomorrow 1.05 treaty girl 1.40 being global Good luck. Cheers.
Bet of the day for me is See you at midnight. Loved his reappearance run, likes it heavy/soft and has no problems with the distance. Would love to see coneygree win, but think 3m plus on heavy ground in a grade 1 first time out with a year out is too much for him
I was looking at her runners today and can't help feeling the bookies have sucked every last drop of value out of their prices (apart from the novice first up):
Decided to wave the "no bet banner" today - after studying the cards again this morning there is nothing screaming to be backed to my eye. I hope Coneygree is still the force of old, will be fascinating to see how he goes on against Cue Card and Seeyouatmidnight. I might be tempted by 5/2 Coneygree if he goes out that far.
Small interest for me on Yanworth, Coneygree, Vaniteux at 20/1. The long shot for me is in Ascots opener. LAVAL NOIR 20/1 beat BARRD of Nicky Hendersons by 6L in a bumper and that horse has franked the form with himself own bumper win a couple of weeks back. Could be better form than they think.
Morning, you types. If I can be a bit serious for a minute I see that some of our newspapers this morn have savagely ‘gone’ for the Saxe-Coburgs! I say is this the start of Revolution?!? The ‘county set’ are off to Ascot today and will be having a big double on, ‘the hope of the county’, Yanworth and Vanituex trained by a chap called Nicky Henderson. Never heard of him myself but the upper echelons of the ‘county set’ are expecting to collect on the double which pays around 7/1. Good luck.
I think its in very poor taste tipping up Henderson horses after such a terrible week for him Only joking Barney - good to see your chin up again What a race we have in store at 3.00 A riveting renewal sees Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti - who are both dual winners of this race - take on the returning CONEYGREE who won the Gold Cup as a novice in March 2015 but has run just once since. Cue Card is just about the leading player on overall form and he should step up on his Charlie Hall effort behind Irish Cavalier, while Silviniaco Conti is a Betfair Chase standing dish having contested the last four runnings. However, they have a lot of mileage in comparison to the still-promising Coneygree, who is five from five over fences. The reports suggest he's recovered well from his injury and, provided he picks up where he left off, he should take some pegging back. On a seperate note, I am starting a football bet mission on Monday - just found out that if you get a Coral Connect Card in shop and place £20 worth of bets from Mon - Thurs they give you a free £20 bet for the weekend - add this to skybets less generous stake £5 get £5, this gives you £50 to play with all week for a £25 outlay - will put up a thread on Monday so you can see how I do and decide if you fancy it for yourselves
NB The Betfair Chase is the first of the triple crown and you can get either 33/1 on Cue Card or 25/1 on Coneygree to complete this treble and pick up the £1M. Alternatively, any horse to do the treble is priced up at 16/1 which is a better option than just covering both
having a daft couple of Bob on Finula 12:35 Hunt Slippers over for Brendon Powell 50/1 why not.... stay frosty
