Evening all, I sent a message to Jon Marks who said what a difficult job it was yesterday, and he asked where our board was - so I've pointed him our way.

Norway & co, please could you look out for him?

To give Claridge his due, he constantly talked about Cleverley, Lansbury, Helguson and Smith.

It's if he starts talking about Buckley and Cowie that I'll get annoyed, because he never gave them so much as a name check when they were here.

Oh dear, my poor feet. Burning just as if I had tried the walking on hot coals trick. They have been subjected to a merciless day of walking up and down the streets of Le Blanc.

For those of you who have never made a visit to this delightful little town, it is almost two settlements built on the hillsides sloping down to the River Creuse. In fact it was two settlements for many years after the bridge joining the two had been washed away and the only way between was by taking the ferry. In the 19th century a grand stone bridge was provided and it is now a busy road taking plenty of traffic across the 50 metres of water.

Today the centre of the town was closed to all but foot traffic as the grand annual brocante sale took place. People from all over the region gather to sell off their collections of strange and varied objects alongside the dealers with their overpriced goods making out to be much older than they often are. There was a man selling off piece by piece his collection that had no doubt taken years to assemble of glass ash trays. Then there were the teenagers trying to raise some cash by selling the presents that were by now far to babyish for them. Everywhere the noise of haggling over the price of things, the bars all open to the foot weary who just had to stop for a rest and the smell of crepes being cooked by the mobile vans who move from one open air event to the next all summer.

From at least 30 metres away I spotted my must have item. I approached it with a joy that goes with finding a long lost friend. Perfect in every detail, hardly used, there it sat on a table just waiting for me to arrive. As you will know if you read my ramblings from time to time I have trouble with deer getting into my fields, and this was the perfect method of frightening them off.

Looking at Mme I could see a sense of horror spreading across her face. "No, definitely not" she said. I pointed out to her that it was only for use down the fields, well away from the houses. I tried the how much fun approach, the loss of less crops approach, even the village celebrity approach, but she was not to be swayed.

I gave in and moved away from the table wondering if I would ever see such a wonderful set of bagpipes again.

Having recently installed a nice new butler sink we went in search of a mat to stop it get chipped.

A nice young lady came up and asked if she help. "Yes please, we would like one of your sink mats" in our very best French.

In her very best French, she apologized that she didn't speak English.

Pointing at said object she got one down, clearly labled Sink Mat. We told her that Sink Mat was English. Ah she said trying to repeat it, " It is a sunk mit"

Yes I had just spotted it BB and felt sad for the guy. Hopefully it will not be the end of his career as he has found his level where he can enjoy playing. Good luck to him.

Not a good day at work for Scott Severin, I can remeber other players breaking these bones and never playing again. I hope he recovers as quickly as he can.

    Evening all

Our guests have departed...on their way to Scotland via friends in Northampton. We had the pleasure of jazz and swing in our pub garden this afternoon, accompanied by spit roast lamb and a few pints of something called Norfolk Wherry. It was enjoyable but it could have been warmer (the weather not the beer).

Just about managed to keep track of the score on Saturday but it's a pleasure to sit down now and catch up on a few comments about the game. I'd have settled for 2-2 before hand. Hugely looking forward to next Saturday now.

It does look good from the outside and the open stands behind the goals do look good when the ground are going full pelt but for a club who play in Europe I think it quite poor. The loos, well, lets not go there (literally, go before you enter); in terms of a drink/food it was water, coke and one flavour of crisps (at least where in the stand that I was in). As I say, three sides have no roof and all that for 80 quid. Granted there were seats for 40 but apparently they go up to 125 euros which is pretty scandalous.

Still all about the Bundesliga for me. 7 euros 9including a programme) when I last went for standing, great stadium all round and a guy comes and fill your pint up while you carry on watching the game. Top draw.

Saying that a fiver for a champions league game and Dinamo Zagreb is not to be sniffed at either.

If it was just a leg break I'd be a bit more optimistic. That injury sounds really bad, both bones and ligaments. I think he may be done for although Cisse came back from something similar, granted he was quite a bit younger.
