There hasn't been much going on at all. The new bar slut is up for it (she likes older men <doh>) She's probably worth one, but she's got a big mouth and I don't want a smack off the unit while I'm still on crutches. I'm not going in quite as much either. It gets a bit quiet on the run-in to Christmas and walking home on crutches is not the easiest when thare are wet leaves all over the show <yikes> Will be in there tonight............................

Wasn't sure where to post this so here'll do. My eldest, who some of you will remember got her first teaching job at Merchant Taylors, resigned just before half-term. She'd been persecuted by the headmaster for the bulk of her second year for no obvious reason, other than advocating change, which the ex-forces **** didn't want. If she hadn't resigned, she would have been sacked. My employment law judge mate didn't think there was enough evidence to fight it without a long and expensive battle, so he advised her to get the best deal she could, which she did.

She enrolled with a couple of locum agencies and has done some supply. She went for an interview for two terms' supply work starting in January. This will almost certainly become permanent. She got offered the job. The school is an academy one which previously was in special measures before the academy people stepped in. She requested to do 2 days' teaching there before reaching a decision. She's accepted, against her mother's advice. The school is in Bootle. I'd told her it was her choice and made it clear it'd be no Merchant Taylors <laugh> I'm proud of her and laughed when she said it'd be a breath of fresh air teaching where the parents don't run the school and the kids are real. She thinks she can make a difference.

By the way, her replacement at MT started straight after half-term, so was obviously already lined up and the head has subsequently resigned to go to Dubai - he was disliked by all the teachers, probably because he's a ****ing ****. I'd have dearly liked to get my hands on him ****ing around with my daughter's life.

My ex-wife hates Scousers, by the way. One of the many reasons I divorced her <laugh>

I was Chair of Governors at a school when the head resigned. We had 3 temporary headteachers, all currently deputy heads, via the Local Authority until we recruited a new head. All 3 were bloody useless and had clearly agreed to the temporary position to boost their CV's. We eventually got a decent full time headteacher who was brilliant, but some of the ones who applied for the job were terrifyingly poor. One actually said at the interview she wanted the job because she had always taught in large city schools so wanted an easier life leading to early retirement! Show ambition why don't you!!!!

Mrs luv is a teacher and there's a huge swing between those who want to make a difference and those in it for the money and an easy life. It's A strange trade.

I know a few teachers who hated the teaching part and jumped into admin/managerial roles as soon as they could, and others who have turned down promotions as it would mean they would never take a class again. I agree it really is an odd profession at times.

you would wonder but this happens in all careers.

peopel think one thing but the reality of it never sinks in til they are confronted by it.

I do find the most vocal and iritating people are those who don't like what they do.

Lol... The Apple doesn't fall too far from the tree

    From "rate my teacher" website.

Another kid described her as "best teacher ever".

Lots of money in Dubai. Great place for possibility and potential.

Uncustomarily, I didn't manage to make the Cheese on Saturday afternoon as I was in A & E in Warrington for 5 ****ing hours. I got bitten by some crawling/flying **** on Thursday morning. I didn't feel the bite, but it started itching shortly afterwards. By Friday, it was very inflamed and swollen and I was aching all over.

Went to my pharmacist on Saturday morning and he advised I go to A & E. I first saw a nurse 3 hours after getting there. He looked at it and said I shouldn't have been waiting so long <doh> I then went to another nurse who took BP, blood glucose, temp and pulse. I then went to another dept and saw another nurse who measure the swelling and took a blood sample. Results in 90 mins <grr>

I saw the first quack who was a female septic. here on an exchange. She was quite pleasant. Got the usual smoking and drinking questions along with a few others. She said she wanted another opinion so she could rule out other possibilities other than cellulitis. He came with her about 45 mins later and asked a lot of the same questions. He did say my blood pressure was slightly high, to which I replied " possibly because I've been sitting in an A & E waiting room for 3 hours, watching people who arrived after me get seen. He laughed and agreed.

I got oral antibiotics, but they were close to keeping me in overnight for the I/V version <yikes>

What a load of **** and what a horrible little ****er <grr> Anyone ever had similar?

Yeah, I occasionally get bit by a mosquito. As a child I used to get stung by nettles on an almost daily basis.

    It's not pleasant.

/ Less jokingly... My kids are allergic to fire ants. We have hundreds of their little mounds on our property despite my best attempts to kill them (ants not the kids)

Every time they get bit they react a little worse than before. Usually requires a doctor visit now. Wouldn't be surprised if my eldest needs to start carrying an epipen.
