Above Board looks a horse to keep onside. 13 month lay off and not fancied on return, travels like the best horse and looked the winner but just tired out of it. Should improve a heap.
Shame he didn't ride him out Dex Still plenty to learn, especially at those ditches but you feel Gold Cup pace will suit him a lot better
Probably not a bad little race..Evan Williams' horse travelled well also before blowing up and the Rooney runners showed ability.
I know..could have been 30l but just not the fashion these days..he was 15 clear at the top of the hill!
You'd think his jumping might be vulnerable in and amongst Gold Cup horses in a bigger field but he was superb when allowed to lead. Maybe too brave for his own good, you can't do what he done twice today in a Gold Cup and get away with it. Bloody big engine there mind you
Where would you go next with him Dex? I was thinking the Feltham but I'd love to see him in the Lexus
I'm not sure he's ready for open company yet Oddy but it would be a treat to see him against the old brigade. The Feltham looks the obvious race although he might want to get another run into him prior to that..The Drinmore is over 2m4f and is a Grade 1 if he fancied travelling with him before Christmas. It would fit nicely into his schedule tbh.
As frustrating a horse as he is I have just backed Buywise at 18/1 for the 2.25 at HQ. A close 2nd in it last year he had what was perceived as an eye catching run over hurdles lto but in truth he's just extremely difficult to handle I think. Will need it all to go right to win but could make the frame if on a going day.
I think the Feltham would be a nice confidence booster for his jumping tbh - nice flat track and relatively straightforward fences. Maybe wait for the Denman Chase in February to try him in open company. Same route taken with Coneygree
Thought Unioniste might be a bit too big at 30s on the exchanges given the rain that has come. Taking quite a chance on fitness though I suppose. What price Alvarado running on well for 3rd or 4th again today?!
I backed him in that race Humans and he was actually quite unlucky..only a couple of pounds higher and some rain will have helped. I'm talking myself into backing him again!!
Poor La Reve wasn't to know. Hope all involved survive and are ok to go anther day. What a win for VDN there, travelled beautifully and found up the hill.
Good race that, and a good winner if you found him. Shotgun gave a good account but just fell short coming up the hill...
I'd LIKE to see More Of That win here but it is a big ask - not a value price. Have Buywise in the comp.
