Chris Sutton on STV coverage quite disparaging of Strachan, and Scotland in general....whilst also saying that Scotland are still.in the chase for 2nd place with games at home to come, but on that performance, Scotland will be lucky to finish in top four (out of six!!). England will piss this group, and still.implode once they get to the tournament. Southgate has probably secured himself a contract til after Russia 2018 - best man for the job? or ONLY man for the job?
Southgate deserves a chance in my opinion. He has conducted himself well and he seems to know what he's doing which will be a refreshing change.
In fairness I thought he got England's pressing game spot on, they never allowed Scotland time on the ball and were always a yard quicker than Scotland, think back to Rose first chasing down the centre half, then the keeper and then the full back how launched the ball out of play all because Rose kept them under pressure. What was impressive about that was that England were already 3 up by then and it was way beyond the 70th minute yet they were still applying the pressure.......
Can't be done for commercial grounds as surely nobody would by a shirt like that unless all the proceeds are going to a cancer charity......

It's been the case for years, and I can't see it changing either Pretty reflective of the quality of Scottish domestic football at the moment, and the lack of high profile Scottish players playing outside Scotland
And yet they opened us up easily 4 or 5 times. England were very poor, a decent team would have put at least 3 past us and defended all 3 goals better. Only time we looked comfortable was when we were 3 up. Positives are that the full-backs were very good (going forward at least) and Lallana is developing into a top class player.
I thought Scotland were good. They started both halves on the front foot with a high pressing game and England struggled to cope with it at the back. The Scots were poor in front of goal and couldn't convert any of their twelve chances, which was three more than England had in total. England had three chances on target and scored all three with headers. It was the quality in front of goal that made the difference.
