I've watched U23 and U21 games in the past, and you can often tell the age group from the degree of understanding of the game and the maturity of the play. Not so this evening. It wouldn't do the full England team any harm at all to watch that game back. Sure there were errors, but there was also a lack of fear, and England played at a pace that Italy struggled with at times. An entertaining game with good football from both sides. Very fitting that England fielded a fair few Saints and ex-Saints players at St Mary's. That familiarity of fellow players and surroundings will have helped.
I thought the way Chambers played he would be better off back at Arsenal. At least he would be no where near the pitch...
To be fait, Chambers header that lead to Jack S scoring the winner was good, and if i am not mistaken did our Nathan not win the corner that we scored from. I bet Claude gave them the instructions for that #madeinsouthampton
One day they won't be talking about the Saints Academy boys in the England U21s, but remarking (in astonishment) that one lad on the pitch apparently didn't come through Southampton.
It's their national flower. Just like the England team are known as 'the Red Rose'. Plus, 'Cherry Blossoms' sounds much cooler in Japanese: 'Sakura'
Pretty entertaining game last night. Was hoping for a bit more from the U21s but they had some good passages of play and were still better to watch than the full England team. Disappointed in how dirty Italy were. Also, after all the talk of Abraham, he only came on towards the end so didn't see much of him! Reasonable attendance of 11,500. Be interested how that compares to the usual home crowd they get.
In fairness to Ides, in between the Spurs posts he's waxed lyrical about this kid. I'd not heard of him prior to this season.
