If we stay in the Premier League next season the away fans will have to be moved after Premier League clubs agreed that at least a section of away fans must be located at pitch side..
It'll be for the best I reckon, the atmosphere was better when they were closer and good atmosphere means points.
Bollocks. I get the atmosphere bit but it is a definate help to away teams at the SOL so i don't want that. Most prem teams have away fans pitch side anyway do they not?
It is a help to away teams but I think it's a bigger help to us. Picture us (if you can stretch your imagination that far) being a force to be reckoned with at home, most sides in the league aren't keen on playing us. Haven't all the times that's been true been when the away fans were closer? Push them away and if/when we aren't playing well it's one less reason to get the crowd fired up and help the team get back in the game. Put it this way, if you're playing tennis against a mate and they can barely hit the ball let alone hit a winner don't you feel less motivated than you do against someone who riles you up and gets your competitive spirit going?
I am in the south stand now but was north stand when they first moved away fans. It killed the north stand atmosphere. Mainly because the crazy corner gang weren't there having the banter back and forth and the north stand lot are sadly some way from the fulwell Enders from my younger days. The report says a "section" can't see any point in moving some but not all. I was at Norwich a few years ago and they had us pitch side but along 2 rows at the very front. Couldn't get any atmosphere singing going with that and it was awful
extend the south stand and put them up there. I use to think the away supporters in the south stand were affecting our players, but was wrong. Another fact is we have conceded 9 goals in the south stand goal but only 4 in the north Arsenal scored in both goals.
The way we've been playing you could put he bloody goals outside at the entrance & they'd still find a way of lobbing it out of the stadium to score
I believe that it was done because SAFC was the only team in The Prem that gave the visiting fans such a good viewing site. Also since only a few Clubs took up their full allocation it made us look bad on TV with lots of prime seats being empty. As for the where I would suggest pitch side East Stand. That's where the 'sun in your eyes' problem is at it's worst (when the sun is shining) AND when it rains you get soaked. How you might police this though, I have no idea. No doubt the powers that be have consider it though and have a ready made answer. please log in to view this image
My 1st choice would be blue 2nd choice Red(see post below). I'd split the away fans between upper and lower, just enough brought lower to generate a back and forth but not enough to any advantage to our opponents. Plus anything they throw down then the ****s are throwing down on themselves so won't be inclined to do so. I think any move to the east stand would mean uprooting the whole family section which would be costly and cause bedlam.
I'd say the red part is probably about spot on IMO. Blue I'd guess would be too close to the 'posh seats' so might not happen.
The Blue Arrow is my seat ya tw*t.. I think the NW concession corner both up n down should suffice. Lose the grassland adj to the Aquatic centre and park the away coaches there,
