We're their allies at the minute.

Trump has said himself in his books that he's an isolationist. America first, and all that.

Let's just see what the hard realities of life will be when he takes office. How for instance, the military react. I'm not saying there'll be a coup or anything so daft but they can certainly throw some spanners into Washington's workings.

Like you, I think it very likely he won't be able to make anywhere near the amount of changes he'd like to make once he walks into the Oval Office.

Does he even want to change them or is he a megalomaniac who has lied his way into the Oval Office? He's scattergunned buzz words throughout his entire campaign, to make himself look like he legitimately cares, does he even care though?

He can't isolate America and save it at the same time, he knows that, he needs as many friends as he can get... minus Mexico <laugh>

I doubt a nuclear war will happen in the near future. But the Russians are conventionally arming up massively.

There's a new more outward looking and aggressive Russia out there just as the Americans are starting to look inwards. Russian foreign policy won big time last night. The Baltic states must be crapping themselves today.

To some extent Trump is right. Europe has hidden under America's coat tails too long. It's time the rest of Europe started pulling their weight in NATO.

I think he'll have some very tough opposition from his own quarters if he even tries to dismantle any alliances that have taken decades to build.

What it comes down to again, imo, is he just doesn't control everything like the media/movies will have you believe.

It comes down to money as well, the US have 17bn debt mate, they cannot afford to tell Europe or any other major economy to GFY.

It wouldnt surprise me if he has to resign at some point during his presidency. Like many leaders he must have some skeletons in his closet. There are many, even within his own party, that would like to see that closet opened. They'll be hundreds of people, up and down the country, and even abroad, frantically trying to dig up some dirt as we speak.

Its not like he even has 2 united Republican houses behind him. The press are saying with the Republicans dominating all the branches of government he'd be free to do what he wants. But large parts of the Republican Party can't stand him either.

He'll have to do some fairly good stuff to be in for a second term mate, if he's as bad as people are saying he'll get 4 years tops. These long drawn out strategies he's talking about, you can't just implement them over night, 4 years is nothing.

As always, the markets will calm down, life will go on and the world will keep spinning.

I remember when Reagan won the Presidency. Many in Europe were horrified at the thought. He's now regarded as one of their greatest Presidents.

What is needs now are calm heads on both young and old shoulders. Having said that, the press on both sides of the spectrum aren't helping much. They keep raising the temperature all the time.

Can you imagine any sort of shockwaves over here if there was no media storm around Trump, or no media at all?

If the media were to be believed, he's about to open his front door this morning, launch a few nukes at China and Mexico and smash every trade deal they have into a million pieces.

He knows better than anybody that any radical movement from him and the markets will crumble and their debt will rise faster than ever. He'll spend the next 4 years trying to claw that back... he wouldn't be allowed to do it, everything he does and says will be screened first now, to avoid such things happening.

The funniest part for me is that Kanye West said he was running in 2020 for President.

It'll probably happen after this <laugh>

I have been gutted all day about this result, and the fact that Clinton actually got more votes than Trump but has still lost has just rubbed salt in the wounds..

I like that The Americans have given their Politicians a right good kick up their collective backsides.
Just like Brexit over here, it will remind them who has the whip hand in the last resort.

But to pick this blustering buffoon as the way to do it is one hell of a risk.

Given the oddballs the Americans have elected in the past, George W for example, they might well even re-elect Trump in four years time, unless he manages to get himself impeached in the meanwhile.

The man does not stand a chance, the Republican's are in full control of everything and it won't take long before he is under
The man does not stand a chance even though he is not a Democrat he is not a true Republican and given the way he got their nomination he will have to get what he wants passed by the house so getting HIS promises past by hard headed politicians is the key.

He may well surround himself with sycophants but more experienced people will still run the country whether he likes it or not,

Without NATO America would have no involvement in European affairs or access to military facilities which other nations provide. Without Japanese/Korean and South Pacific alliances the US will be handing the reins over to China and diminishing the influence of US around the world.
