I like how vocal Malkie was too, came over all the time on the BBC commentary, Rudy is looking a good prospect if he can play like that every week

Whitts looked better than any other midfielder on the park.

I now see why Cowie was rated so highly by the watford fans, very happy to see a midfield working as a unit, not bad for the first game :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I thought Hudson had a great game, getting better year on year.

Whitts was Class, Gunnersson did well.

WHU has the best mid-field in the championship but look week up front.

Good to see them playing the full 90 minutes plus. Marshall was MOM for me.

What a refreshing change to see a manager wearing his heart on his sleeve. Malky shouted and encouraged the team the whole game where Allardyce who looked a bit too confident to me at the start of the match just seem to get older as each minute went by. Gestede up front looks good and I think Malky played his substitution brilliantly. Rude tired last week againgt Parma but when the fitness levels improve he will be a handful. Okay I won't be getting carried away as our defence and in particular Marshall kept us in the game but what a brilliant start!!

Much better. Last season we would have faded in the last 10 mins. Looked better up front when Gestede came on.
Much prefer a little man big man duo. WH had their chances but failed to take them.
I think this was only 1 of 2 clear chances we had in their 6 yard box.
No coincidence it came from their left. Ilunga looked poor only slightly better than Sears.
No superstars for us, apart from Marshall, just good solid teamwork.

    The future's bright.

I didn't rate Cowie before today but watching on the tv I was able to see just how much work he does. Tidying up in front of the back four, marking, covering and even finding time to get in the opponents box. He just gets on with his game in an unspectacular fashion and with him and the Gunnar sitting deeper than we are used to with our midfield it gave Whitts licence to push forward more.

A great team perfomance all round. I was happy with 0 - 0 but a good day has now become a great day. On to Oxford on Wednesday.

    Overall, very pleased!

Marshall looked solid, made a few good saves to keep us in the game. Looked strong at the back, Gerrard (despite the early error) and Hudson work well together; we know all Kev and I was pleased with Taylor, he got forward and put a few decent crosses in. The midfield were a strong as a unit with Whitts growing in confidence as the game went on! Gunnarsson needs to work on that long throw of his mind!! Rudy appears very industrious and it was a great finish from Miller who didn't really see much of the ball.

West Ham didn't cause us too many problems and it was a game of few chances. Matt Taylor looks very dangerous at this level and if they keep hold of Parker (who didn't really do much today) I'm sure they'll be somewhere near the top at the end of the season. A great three points though, can't wait for next Sunday!

Thought the whole teams work ethic was outstanding, but the midfield worked brilliant as a unit especially without the ball, conway should glimpes of what he can do and a left back that can tackle and gets forward, front 2 worked hard and rudy came on at the right time just as west hams defense were tiring a massive difference to certain games last year :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Definately think that goal for Miller will be a huge confidence boost for not only himself but the team. I like how our odds for promotion have jumped to 12/1 :) Certainly shouldn't get carried away, but with our defense certainly looking tighter (at times) and a new hard working ethic, i'm sure a top 6 finish is what we should be aiming for.

Marshall man of the match for me too. Had one or two dodgy kicks, but can be forgiven with the weather

i thought it was a pretty average performance tbh. in the first half west ham were the better team, although starting the campaign against the favorites away is never easy. the goal was a goalkeeping error too, but credit to miller he never stops closing down the opposition, in comparison to bothroyd, its refreshing to see.

the result great, the performance not <ok> but then again if we do that on a regular basis then i wont be complaining.

Gestede made a big difference when he came on. I think he will cause problems for any defence.:D
