Jimmy Ffloyd gets the boot from QPR but he has the 3rd best win ratio at the club in years, beating Mark Hughes, so Jimmy on 32%, Arry in 2nd on 34% and Warnock top on 39%. In a world of sacking managers is it time to stop and give them meaningful contracts that state they will only be sacked if results are worse than ever in clubs history, or something meaningful as we fans need continuance to develop and get the best out of the squad. Yes we fans also get impatient, but history shows that keeping the manager and letting him action his long term plan works to the benefit of the club. Yes mostly and I accept there are some front bums who need chopping. The Board or Chairman employ the manager so shouldn't they be sanctioned if they sack the manager they chose By the way Garry Monks win ratio is 60%
Monk needs to be sacked, he's clearly a waster who does nothing and leaves all the work to his staff ... as for QPR, they are heading into rocky waters if they don't get promotion, and the owners are very twitchy ... they gambled and are now suffering financially, so expect them to fire the next manager in about four months Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
A tricky one as managers who are great can suddenly drop out of favour, look at Howard Wilkinson and Grayson, I'm sure when both were sacked it was welcomed by many yet a few months earlier it wouldn't have been considered. I think it depends on too many factors, were they backed and supported, did the owner get them the players they asked for??? Take Evans, some wanted him to remain and build on what he started, others were glad to see the back of him. We have very few great managers in the PL and Championship, it is easy to throw millions around and hope to strike it lucky, look at Jose at Man U now, is he a great manager or one that has been well supported and is now being caught out? What about Claudio Ranieri, if Leicester go down will they stick with him? I am a great believer that sometimes and more often than not, everything just falls into place with a big dollop of good fortune. Jimmy Floyd he worked wonders with Burton, he hasn't become a bad manager in under 11 months what has gone wrong? Was he bad to begin with and was he fortunate that the ingredients were in place at Burton?
Seems to me that Monck isn't doing too bad a job. You are winning at the moment and he has you nicely placed in the top six before Christmas, before you start your usual slide in the new Year.
yes as we know the pool is empty of English even British managers, due to foreign guys taking the jobs. Yet Swansea is a great example of what can go wrong when you bring in a foreign manager. Bet they wished Monk was back there
He still might be it's a long time since we've had a manager worth coaching. Btw, I've heard Cellino is still picking the team, anyone care to comment?
You believe that Eire, I think the team is Garry's and think it obvious. Still got that TTGM protest group going and dont understand why. We all know Cellino is flawed but this season hes in the background and its working
WHAT? I love the guy as hes the best thing thats happened to our club in years. This thread was all about the way clubs sack managers. Jimmy getting canned even though he has their 3rd best win ratio
I know that was said in jest but on a serious note Cellino seems to have been well and truly put back in his box. Whether that's because of TOMA / NDA, possibility of FA ban or the more unlikely proposition that he has learned from past mistakes, long may it continue as monk seems to be benefiting from it
As Ian Holloway said at the weekend, mr Cellino should concentrate on smoking his ***s, leave all alone and enjoy the ride
