I've got to say that it's a hell of a coincidence that we never win when he plays and the first time he doesn't we win. You can say it's just luck or whatever but I don't believe it is, something about him being on the pitch stifles us in some hard to put your finger on way.
Pure coincidence. You only have to watch the way we rode our luck the to know that. Some of the sitters Bournemouth missed as they waltzed though our midfield and defence. Next we'll be believing in dragons and sprites.
I know what you mean, it is unlikely. But he is there on the pitch and in the dressing room and it's entirely possible that he has a negative impact in some tangible way. For instance we showed more fight today than we have all season, is Rodwell a fighter? Nah. Do we need fight to survive? Yes.
I agree he's more technical than a roll the sleeves up player but still, we didn't win today because we dropped Rodwell, far from it. It's just pointless mumbo jumbo to me. We struggle to win full stop let alone with him in the team, he underperforms more often than not like most others, they've all been chipping in to make us look ****. He is responsible when we lose because he's part of a team and the team is responsible. I just don't think there's a hex. He contributes to defeats, he doesn't lose us the game.
I don't think there's a hex, I don't believe in anything like that. It is a coincidence and a half though that we won without him when we never, ever win with him. I'm not saying I know why that is but I'd wager there's something more than pure coincidence behind it. Team chemistry or something maybe.
I honestly feel JR is just lacking match fitness and awareness. he needs a loan out to a lower league team to get that match fitness - no one can say he is not talented - not match ready yet plus a £9million price tag hanging round his neck with all expectations it brings - loan him out
That is my take too. For some reason yet to be proved, he has been chosen by fans to be out scapegoat. Somehow some saw him as a box to box player when he never been used in that role. During the run in last season his miss against Leicester took the confidence out of him. He must dread playing at home.
He needs to be kept out of the side til (hopefully) we find form and start being far more robust/winning games. He has no 'best position' on the pitch either, unless he was to finally get a slot at CB.
Why? You do realise that just because people have a whinge about a player on here doesn't mean that they boo them at matches. Everyone makes such a song and dance about scapegoats but it doesn't matter a jot on match day. Also, for the record he described himself as a box to box player when he signed.
I read about that a couple of weeks ago as well in an article about SAFC fans asking about an exorcism.
Have I missed a trick? They has not been a kind word or any encouragement said about him on here for years and most of the stuff put on here is derogatory about his performances. If he was given the box to box role then he has never had the opportunity to develop it because of various reasons, not least of which has been the overall team performances over the seasons. There have been others as bad as him but that is overlooked if he is in the team.
I don't think that's true. If Defoe is bad, Kone is bad, Khazri is bad then it will be pointed out on here. The Rodwell supporters seem desperate to make out that Rodwell is the only one taking flak but it simply isn't true. As I said, what does it matter what is said on here about him, I'd bet my house he doesn't read this forum and he doesn't get booed at matches so can you clarify just why it's so important that he isn't made a scapegoat?
