Well, we did spend big on Boufal and he hasn't had time to really get going yet. So hopefully that hole will get plugged.
But only, in my view, if we play him alongside Redmond, Austin and Tadic - ie as a fourth attacking body. If ultimately he is always used as part of a front three, then it doesn't really solve the problem. We're defensively strong enough - and generally have been for sometime now, not just under Puel - to be able to play one extra attacking body against the weaker sides, in my view. As opposed to three CMs, none of whom can score or create.
The one striker I'd really like is Robert Beric of St Etienne. Seen him a few times and he's strong, holds up the ball well, has great composure, and is a great finisher (scored a great goal against PSG in the league a month or so back). But, I'm not Les.
Undoubtedly the worst moment in the history of the world. Can I live with losing at Hull? Yes I expect so. On the other hand I expect there to be extra training tomorrow as there were definitely signs of loss of concentration / complacency / taking things for granted on the pitch today. I would say though, in the defence of our defence, that they wouldn't get all the blame for disasters like today if the guys up front would just put a few more chances away. And please don't blame Jay Rod again, he's showing good signs, but it won't happen overnight.
Brilliant works Saints, way to throw away what should have been one of the easiest away wins of the season. Annoyingly obvious that we had a bad attitude with this game since we went 0-1 up and they had a few players go off injured and yet nothing changed. Piss poor professionalism.
Well we played a whole 90 like the first half against Milan. Brilliant. Too much possession without doing anything with it. Too little quality when the chances popped up. They were bloody lucky to get those injuries, though. Forced them to put out actual footballers.
Quick summary: Clasie and Davis don't work is this formation at all. Jay needs to loaned out. We need a new striker. We thought we had the game sorted at 1-0 and switched off badly. Yoshida is a good/decent cb, but can't play at rb.
Can't disagree with any of this. Hope we sort it out over the break, because Liverpool (H), Sparta Prague (A) and Everton (H) is a tough stretch, and 13 points from 11 isn't spectacular league form as is.
I actually thought Yoshida had a decent game, but no player covered themselves in glory today. I agree we need a striker, surely there's no one still out there that doesn't?
All Fraser seems to do is pick the ball out of the net! Annoying how teams seem to have hardly any shots on goal yet score unlike us!
I think we need a striker and like everyone else have been saying so since the summer started. At the same time though, I didn't feel like our strikers today were missing gilt-edged chances the way they were at the start of the year. If the argument is that we needed more goals (not sure I would agree), then I think the problem was more a lack of support from midfield. Which mainly falls on Tadic and Davis.
