A pathetic attempt to beat a pub team....they should hang their heads in shame as should Puel who didn't change things when it was blatantly obvious that we needed an injection of energy. Too angry to post again
I'm afraid I lay the blame with Clasie and Davis there. At 1-0 up and crusing they never put the real effort to get forward while we dominated possession. So they left the front three to try to create with no midfield support.
This, for me, is the worst result in the last few years. Not because we lost, we've lost before. Not because we lost to a poor team, we've lost to poor teams before, even at home. But because we were just so unambitiously lazy in every department of the pitch. After going 1-0 up I bet not a single player on our side thought we'd get anything other than 3 points in this game. We gave up after 6 minutes and we deserved everything we got. 1 point from a possible 6 against the two worst teams in the league doesn't sit well with me. I can take being outplayed by Chelsea, I can't take the lack of desire and creativity against a team we should have beaten 4-0.
Shrug. I guess it's just me, but when you are up 1-0, dominate the game, and lose 2-1 because you gave up two soft goals in two minutes... I think the problem is the DEFENSE.
Everyone who begs for an early goal can piss off in future! We just sat back and practised passing for the rest of the game. Way too complacent.
Just awful. Seriously it's unbelievable how Premier League players still think they can just turn up to some games and just win. How can a team that just beat Milan lose like that? ****ing woeful.
Jay really has to be shipped out in January. On loan perhaps, but we need to bring in someone who can help out Austin with the goals. Also I'm beginning to see the light with Clasie. What a frustrating player he is.
The failures (to win) against Sunderland, Watford, Leicester and Arsenal I put down to failing to sign a top striker in the transfer window. Today though, the blame lies solely on the guys wearing the shirt (which extends to Puel, as the man picking them). That was awful. Hull's equaliser was coming, even without them really creating much. We were just stuck in first gear. And the only thing which seemed to scare us out of first gear was looking at the clock (no doubt coupled with Hull dropping deeper etc). We should have been professional enough to play an acceptable level way before then though - because we're certainly good enough. I've had my rant a Davis, so I won't bother again. But the sooner we upgrade him, the better (and in the meantime, replace upgrade with drop).
One of those annoying games/results that you get a couple of across the course of a season. Unfortunately we played ourselves into a bit of a lazy mindset, which we never really recovered from, and funnily enough they 'lucked' themselves into a far better line-up than they started with as a result of their injuries. These ones happen. It should be a good lesson to the team that you can't switch off for games, even against the weaker teams in the league. On the plus side, Boufal looks like he's going to be very, very good once he's up to full speed. Some of his runs and play were delicious. He'll frustrate too, but he's some player in the making. Annoying, daft, we were actually a bit unfortunate to not get a draw in the end, but these ones happen now and again to pretty much every team. Draw a blue line.
I disagree, it was the players that let us down today. The team he put out there should've beaten Hull comfortably.
To be fair to Jay, he's still got two more than Long (as far as I can recall). I can't see us being able to pick up the quality of striker which we require on the cheap. Give Jay the season, give him the chance. And then in the summer, make the big signing (unless Jay really does start firing).
I thought that One extreme to the other... I warned against this post the City result... we simply don't enough goals in the team. Bad day at the office for me... shame though as we should win that and I don't see us getting anything from Liverpool. Never mind... I'm going back to bed and look forward to pages of arguments later
