Do I give a **** that countries and companies treat people like ****? Course I do. But if I boycotted everything and everyone that violated human rights etc, I would be dead. So much of this world is built on others misery, you don't really have to look far to see that.
I may become less proud of the club if it goes the way of others, but I would still support the club....because I can't imagine supporting anyone else. May be a lot wrong with China as a whole, but we know nothing about the putative new owner yet. He may be a saint for all we know. And it may not happen.
Football is an odd thing. We have zero control over what happens match day, yet we invest so much in it that a win feels like a personal success and defeat equates personal failure. We have just as little control over who buys someone else's football club (Katarina's), yet we obsess about who buys it. Why do we do it???
As I have already apologised in my initial query, in the case I was inaccurate, I reserve the right to believe you are a twat for the last line of your response.
Search me. Years ago I used to get a quite wound up by it all, but I remember a joke that Jerry Seinfeld made about spectators and sport and it put a lot of things into perspective for me regards our emotional attachment. So I enjoy wins because that's fun and I don't get wound up about losses, because I realise I have 0% actual involvement.
Right here goes........awaits the ridicule. I for one hope any new investor will bring shed loads of dosh, personally I don't get too hung up on what happens in other countries because I cannot affect it. I want my club to win things,to be successful and to be a dominant force in British football and if that means someone from overseas bringing his or hers cash with them I'm fine with that....that's modern day football I'm afraid. Where would Man City Chelsea be without vast sums of money. By the way I'm 43 supported Saints all my life and now want to be no longer known as a make weight for others to walk all over us.
When do I get a special tag instead of Well-Known Member? I want to be called utter **** or something like that.
That's not possible now due to FFP regulations. Man City will be one of the last clubs to go from zero to hero.
Still possible to some extent. Just need to push the limits via the Clubs Own Revenue offsets on the domestic side, and do some creative accounting regarding the UEFA regulations.
If we sell our soul, we will lose our ethos. Money will not make us great. There's something very unusual about SFC, and the longer it stays this way the better. But, if the Chinese have fallen in love with Hampshire, and want a special project, there's always Pompey, just flash a bit of bling & you'd have a job on the board!
Just read a comment in the DM suggesting that VVD might be the first £100 million CB. Fanciful maybe but it kind of puts a £200 million "takeover" of the Club into context ....................... look before you leap Katherine.
I do hope we don't get taken over by money bags just yet, I've enjoyed the last 7 years so much that I want the status quo (i.e. continual improvement and board-stability). I mean, we just gone and beat Inter Milan last night!
