What must Fonte make of the squad rotation (unheard of it happening to him before this season)...he is second to Yoshida, not in a League Cup or PL game, but in the Europa Cup!!

Now I get told off for telling people they are negative as you are all allowed an opinion, but I'll remember JWP's fanatastic shot that their keeper made a great full length, finger tipped save from!!

Simply nothing needs being seen in any negative light or any perspective from last night. We've just beaten a big name in European football. You want perspective. Six years ago this week we played Dagenham and Redbridge in a mid table league one battle.

Ask them how the perspective looks now as they prepare for a weekend game against The Rose & Crown!

Virgil is actually ridiculous.

I think you could play him in any position, and he would be our best player there. When he went up front, he looked better than our other strikers!

Terrific game, excellent second half performance and some very good individual performances too.

My only hesitation in getting carried away in the general euphoria is that Inter were probably the worst team we have had at St Marys this season. But, you can only beat who's in front of you and with a decent referee it would have been more comfortable than it was.

I just heard some of the Radio Solent commentary this morning by the way. Brilliant! I've never heard Adam get so excited.

If he had done that last night, I think I'd have messed my seat.

 

JWP should take the penalties when he is on the pitch. Tadic has never looked convincing even when he has scored.

As for VVD, I made a genuine case for playing him at centre forward a few weeks ago. Nothing I have seen changes my mind that he could be a great success in that position. Of course we would then have to replace arguably the world's best centre back!

Meanwhile Charlie Austin continues to impress me with his hold-up play which I hadn't realised was such a major part of his play.

I'm accused often of being a 'Happy Clapper', but today I have the widest grin on and got out of bed with a spring in my step. I've even just found out that I have to make a trip to our Data Centre in Uxbridge to do something that should only take me a minute to do (so 1 hr 45 driving each way on a Friday for a 1 minute job due to a 3rd party engineer incompetence), BUT I DON'T CARE!!!! BUZZING, STOKED, PUMPED.

Not sure Inter were that bad a side, despite the club being in crisis. They surrendered a lot of possession, but presumably that was the plan. They always had goals in them if we gifted them a chance, which inevitably we did. Icardi - the man their own supporters are in open war with - took his goal well. And apart from the comedy defending for our 2nd goal they were tough to break down. A better side than Watford, or Sunderland or Crystal Palace imo. And their keeper had a blinder, again (not sure if it's the same guy who played at the San Siro?)

As for the state of Italian football, their national side always does pretty well in competitions. Always.

We heat Inter 2-1 after being a goal down and missing a pen. It doesn't get much better than this.

 

It's bad enough when others say that our opponents had an off day, we don't need our own fans to join in. I bet Mourinho would be happy if United had beaten Inter in the Europa. Points on the board are what matter. No one can say we didn't deserve this when you look at our performances over our 4 Europa games so far.

Agreed, and it was the same keeper, he is quality.

 

For our older viewers, is he our Paul Maddely. I think he played in every position for Leeds including goalkeeper. We dont need any new players we just rotate Virgil to wherever hes needed. I do wonder if he will turn out to be a cyborg and be banned from playing with mere humans
