We have no idea why they made that loss, we also have no idea how much they are worth etc. So for me anyways there is too little info to worry about atm.
Not enough information to make a positive or negative opinion on all of this - personally I like to see it as a positive and just another chapter of our great club. We will be a very attractive club now and as much as I love our family club feel, moving forward and bringing in more investment will inevitably dilute that a tad. Plus, maybe Kat just feels that it's time to move on. No shame in that if she does. If the new 5 year plan does include Champions League qualification then we will need a leg up into that top 4 - there's only so much self sufficient clubs can do (and that's nothing against how we've been doing so far, it's more a reflection on how the other clubs above us are reacting every year). Don't know enough about this company to even begin to imagine how much money could hypothetically be pumped into the first team, but I'm sure more will be dug up about them in the coming days.
Very attractive proposition. But that could be the problem. Me, I'm kinda hoping the Sky money goes tits up while we are so well run so we can safely sail through. So I don't want so crack pot obsessed with Mourinho & Ballotelli calling the shots when the crap hits the fan!
So fans need to get use to Kat leaving soon. Either with this group coming in or another. She won't be here much longer.
5 pages in and not one mention of the neighbours down the road? Tsk. My opinion, (EDIT) *new* foreign ownership is not something to get giddy over. Yes the Chinese might love football and sport in general but not for the same reasons you and i do, necessarily. Disruption to a stable, progressive and currently successful model isnt something I'd like to see.
Nope they should support Saints. Just because some fans have different opinions, doesn't mean they shouldn't be fans.
"Rather worrying" was actually Sky Sports quote. Personally I wouldn't say I was worried but with the little info I do know I am very sceptical. Inevitably the day will come when the Liebherr era would end but being in the hands of Chinese owners is not sitting favourable with me.
It's worth pointing out that just because they are Chinese it doesn't mean they will be anything like previous Chinese investors into English football clubs. Not all Chinese people have the same experience and intentions. Secondly, I have confidence that Kat would only sell to someone that would benefit the club long-term. She wouldn't dishonour her father by making a risky sale for money. This is not about making a profit - as stated she could have sold several times for a a large profit previously. £200m is nothing to her, it is about ensuring the club is in good hands going forward. As a successful business woman she ought to be a good judge of any potential buyers or investors. I have confidence Kat will do he right thing.
Adam Blackmore: News of this nature is always unsettling for supporters, and the timing for fans and players is not good, given they have a massive match against Inter Milan looming. But the Chinese interest has been around for a long time, and this news is not surprising given the Chinese government’s enthusiasm to get involved in football. The big question for fans will be about stability and investment. Ultimately if this is going to happen, they will want t know the club is in good hands. And everything we know about the way Saints has been run tells us they are a responsible club, a family club, and they have good business values. I cannot believe Katerina Liebherr and chairman Ralph Krueger would jeopardise the club’s progress in any sale. If this sale does happen, I don’t believe it will be soon, I think there is a long way to go.
Agree, but I guess it depends on your view of the next level. Just going by the regulars of the Champions League there aren't many that operate without tons of funds. I do agree though that whatever happens in needs to be sustainable for the good of the club.
It is about worldwide domination without firing a gun. ............ Seriously, SFC must be seen as a good investment for the Chinese, not least because of the low value of the £. Not sure if a Chinese company would use their own currency when purchasing clubs abroad or the US$
I've said a few times before that I thought this might happen fairly soon - gut feeling rather than actually knowing anything, it just seems like a sensible point to sell us if that's what she wants. As much as well all love this ownership I don't think it was ever going to be for forever. Seems like this definitely has legs, does anyone remember about the supposed secret meeting Kat had a few weeks/months back? Also, this is very interesting - a UK company incorporated on 27th October ... https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10449153 Impossible to say at this stage if a good or a bad thing but I have faith that Kat wouldn't just sell us to anyone. Though I'd like Les etc. to stay if it happens.
Good or bad, I dunno. But very much expected. It's almost certainly about making a profit. She'll make a rather substantial one. More than she would have made prior to this season.
good or a bad thing but I have faith that Kat wouldn't just sell us to anyone. ---------------------------- If she is willing to sell, I'd say she has no obligation for anything else.
The Chinese want to be top dogs of world football, soooo on that basis I'm going to say this is a good thing .
