So it turns out it was the value in the field, the each way bet was well worth it after the drift out before the start- and I was about 3 seconds away from cashing out at a loss; I'm making myself into a nervous wreck Get the confidence back, Jackson, get it back!
I see mr Joseph Obrien has recruited some new horses from his father to the hurdling world the likes of SWORD FIGHTER, HOUSESOFPARLOMENT and many all running under the green and gold colours of JP McManus and more. some exciting horses to hurdling which is nice to see rather then go off to stud! Will there be a Triumph winner in his new recruits Skybet go 11/4 that there is. Sorry barney but this may have thrown your selection in the air!!
Actually 11/4 isn’t the worst quote given the collective firepower that he has and the fact that Joseph is 1/1 (although not officially) in training a Triumph winner. Wouldn’t swap that though for the33’s about Cosmeapolitan. No reason though why they can’t go hurdling and then off to stud. Such a plan was in existence with Mr Henderson’s Royal Irish Hussar as a juvenile – win a Grade 1 and then head off to the old breeding sheds. Didn’t work out though and now gelded (Royal Irish Hussar not Mr Henderson).
JP is also supposed to have bought alot of the best juvenile hurdlers in France. These are the ones that Willie Mullins had been buying for the last ten years. Joseph is supposed to have got about sixty of these horses from JP.
Annoyingly won by the only one I feared Criq Rock needs to jump much more fluently but that was a messy race and he was never in the right posy throughout. Frustrating
Dont worry, Howard Kirk/Mullins will still have had first dibs in France where most are sold privately by the studs! McManus also recently bought Boeuvril and Beauvar Dair so is really strengthening up the team. Unowhatimeanharry and Le Prezien are also recent expensive purchases. He will most likely be having a massive assault on Cheltenham this year, what price top owner?
Anyone see the ride Brian Hughes gave on the 2nd horse there at Musselbrough? Very suspicious to my untrained eyes.
And £260,000 for The Organist. More money than sense. Some team alright but not many are what you'd consider to be top of their divisions. I think its more quantity over quality but there is surely one or two to take on the big races. I guess he'll have twenty runners in the cross country. I wouldn't worry to much about Willie. I'm sure Rich Ricci will have a handful for the Supreme. The Wylie's tend to deal with pointers so they wouldn't really be affected.
Fancy MOBSTA in the next at Nottingham, will either win or come last looking over his last 4 or 5 races and if that's to be followed then it's a win.
14:50 Chepstow - Rocklander (Took a bit of the 4/1 on offer for this one. First time in a handicap after showing promise in maiden hurdles. Trained by the inform Tom George stable, and ridden by Adrian Heskin who is riding out of his skin at the moment).
