    1.10 Chepstow Criq Rock 3/1
    Wins.

On paper this looks an above average maiden hurdle with several holding solid claims. On collateral form the Alan King runner has a bit to find with the fav but I don't take the Cheltenham bumper form too seriously as it was such a messy race. Guy Whittington has a decent looking ex French horse in this, with connections having saddled a winner today someone clearly fancies a follow up as his has been well backed this evening. He could be the one to follow home the selection but I fully expect Criq Rock to be far too strong at the business end.

    EATON HILL 18/1 Chepstow 4.20
Yes this does have the look of a fairly decent bumper but Kerry Lee's horse looks way overpriced. Ran with the choke out on debut in a race that has produced winners and then looked a very game sort when chasing home a decent sort who has won over hurdles since. EATON Hill was under the pump from some way out but responded well, the stiffer course at Chepstow is very likely to suit and if it gets to the front at any point in the home straight it will take a lot of passing.

By the way, surely WESTERN HYMN should be odds on at Kempton tonight!?!?

Nearest market rival now a non-runner, so looks even stronger.

As usual, I'm on the lookout for value. :emoticon-0126-nerd:

Beef has already highlighted the possibilities for Criq Rock, but I can't really understand why there is such a gap between Criq Rock, market wise, and Orchard Park, since the latter won a Bangor bumper (albeit on heavy) and then came second over hurdles a few weeks back at Exeter. As a result, my pennies have gone each way on Orchard Park, Chepstow 1.10.

At Nottingham in the nursery opener, Rashfords Double is on a treble but the previous 2 wins have come at Newcastle. Phoenix Dawn won at Windsor rallying well at the post, yet again there is quite a gap between the 2 market wise. I'll have the each way dabble, then, at the prices. Phoenix Dawn, Nottingham 12.20. (Tap Tap Boom could, of course, be the bigger danger here, so I've conveniently disregarded it)

Looking forward to seeing how a batch of Gosden's horses get on in the 12.50. particularly Gracious Diana, though I'm even more interested in the Johnston runner in that race, Lorikeet, but in any case it's just a watching brief.

Once again the Autumn sun is shining so I'm already looking forward to getting my running shoes on and heading off for that 4 miler by the river.

    Good Luck all.

Its a bit different running in a Bangor bumper compared to listed bumpers at the festival.

For what its worth I think the Hobbs horse is the value in the race although would like to ideally see it over further!

Thanks, stick, for the feedback; now I understand and it probably casts some much needed light on why there is the big difference between the 2 in the market.
** More info ** - there are now 4 non-runners in that race, including the Hobbs horse, blimey!
I got on Orchard Park at 22/1, it's now 8/1.

It is true that you never stop learning and I have definitely picked up a lot of valuable info from everyone on this forum, so I relly appreciate that :emoticon-0100-smile

There will be an almighty Rule 4 though Simon.
Looking at the number of non-runners I suspect the ground at Chepstow is on the fast side of good so many are staying at home!

I see what you mean! :emoticon-0126-nerd:
The non-runners numbers are climbing as we speak; that's halved the odds for your bumper pick, too.

By my estimate Simon the first race is looking at 70p in the £ deduction!

Was beaten by five lenghts in a much better nursery last time. She's stepped up to a mile, her dams pedigree suggests a mile should suit. Worth an each way bet in an open race.
