I wouldn't dignify the question by bothering to explain.

Based on today's MOTD diving is massively coming back into the game, because of refs #bottling yellow cards for simulation

Just based on these few highlights I saw:
-in our game a no contact dive plus going down far too easy, all unpunished
-for Spurs Delle Alli did an Ashley Young dive, plus a couple others, all unpunished
-for Man Utd Darmian with one of the most blatant dives of the season, unpunished

I said during our game, when Howard Webb explained that Zaha wasn't booked for the first, ridiculous dive (that Diego thought was giveable <laugh> ) because there was contact (debatable) that Studge was booked against Swnsea for diving when he was sandwiched between two players (though I agree it wasn't a pen). It would appear SOME players and teams are still punished for it.

I think it depends on the ref. you have to know your ref really.

Clearly marriner feels zaha is a diver was was never giving him a pen that wasnt an absolute stonewall clattering.

The first was a dive and a booking.

The second he threw himself down after contact.

Yep definitely a few players in the prem with reputations for going down too easy.

Trouble is that's then contradicted by pundits when they do stay on their feet and say he should have brought a pen there.

Also another annoyance is not all players get booked for simulation. Some get away with it more than others.

Yeah there is a case that

    A) sturridge was away at swansea wasnt he? zaha was at home.

    B) some refs just dont believe in it cos it creates a situation for them. refs dont mind a yellow but hate then havibg the risk of said pundits savaging them for sending a guy off for two yellows. for example firmino yellow was required but ref woyls be hoping to hell he doesnt do something soft cos if he sends him off then its the ref not the player wo gets it.

In the case of a yellow for a dive then theres always the oh **** hes gone down. i cant wave it off cos ive set a precedence and im not sure it a pen.

    Basically imo refs hate decisions.

There you go again, the Fergie years are gone and so has any "fear" opposing teams had of playing at OT, check out the teams that have had wins and draws there since Fergie left compared to when he was there.
There was also a lot of pro-utd bias from referees that ended when Fergie left, but you Utd fans tend to equate everything with the days when your club USED to be successful, time to move on and accept your current status.<whistle>

I dont this it was pro fergie i think it was abject fear.

No refs fear utd any more, no journos as quaking in their boots lest he ban them...etc etc.

When was the last time you saw utd finish strongly and get the late winner?

Utd players are not as fit as they were, not as talented and then add in the lack of fear and they look like the decline of 1990s for lfc.

They are spending mad money on names as Wallace in the board room chases stars in the rookie error most non football men do.

The fact is that hunger to go again and again and again is gone. theres a perch to sit on with 20 league titles that is comforting as city become bigger and bigger.

I remember sad sack utd fans in the 1980s boasting how big their club was when theyd won nowt just as i remember angry lfc fans screaming 18/5 when we had won nowt.

Utd have 20 league title to soothe them but its a false comfort. hunger and desire is whats needed.... but 300k per week for rooney etc etc isnt conducive to it.

I would rather the 2 extra European cups and 3 eufa cups than 2 extra league titles and whatever extra they have in fa cups personally.

Why we always got taken seriously in europe. Sadly can't say same for league. But can't win them all <laugh>

But just finish with great teams win it 4 times apparently :bandit:

Diego is just coming to the realisation that many of us told him in the summer that Mourinho was clearly the wrong man for the job.
