Dunno why you have posted this on this thread. I said Hobbs is ok, Phillips gave him a few anxious moments but im happy with Hobbs and Chester. 850k on Ayala when we need a good forward is my concern.

Bloody hell. Hobbs wasn't ****e. He was good in the tackle but useless at kicking the ball, the suggestion that we should get rid of Simpson and Mclean is ridiculous and Adebola wasn't bad last night. Tbh we played well, but didn't finish any of the 578968434534589608 chances we created. A problem that will sort itself out as we play more games and everybody gets sharper.

I agree, we win as a team and lose as a team, singling out players when they didn't clearly do something wrong or anymore wrong than their team mates is unfair and is sadly becoming an annoying trend amongst some supporters. It happened in the past with Delaney, Lewis, Garcia etc where any mistake is immediately pointed out and blown out of all proportion and it seems to exist in the current team.

Why is it ridiculous Matt. NP gives people a chance then if they dont take it he gets rid. Why not the same for Mclean, bearing in mind what you have as a caption?? The problem wont be sorted tho will it. NP clearly doesnt rate Simmo, hence bringing on NB, that wont give Simmo any confidence. Mclean isnt a goalscorer and Adestrolla has scored 4-5 goals in is it 3 years. We havent rectified a major problem. Matty looked listless in preseason in my eyes. If he gets injured or goes off the boil then we are in trouble.

Okay so we've agreed a deal with Liverpool for Ayala. But the club and Daniel are yet to talk terms......It won't happen as other clubs will now be alterted. With the battering L**ds are taking tonite, they'll be in for him. Not saying he'll go to the Bellend, but I doubt that its all signed, sealed and delivered.

We need another centre-back, and might aswell get a class one who gets on with the lads. Who's to say Chester or Hobbs won't get injured/suspended. In terms of strikers Simpson needs to start, the sooner the better.

Its amazing how opinions on the performance of players are all over the park (pun intended). Good job NP and crew pick the team and not us.

Ash got it too but theres plenty on here that deny it. The scapegoat mentality among some fans is very disappointing, I mean I don't rate some players but I wouldn't single them out, that 'Hobbs is ****' thread last night was disgusting.

Because they've hardly started their Tigers careers. Simpson has been here for a year and has been hit and miss sure, but he's still young and will continue to improve. McLean may struggle to hit a barn door with a banjo but that doesn't mean he doesn't offer anything to the team does it? He contributes by using his energy and pace to create room for Fryatt. A job he did quite well at the end of last season imo. Same with Adebola, he wasn't brought into score goals. He was brought in the win the ball in the air, something he did in nearly every occasion last night. Barmby was brought on because he's intelligent, knows how to create space and can jump like a salmon so can win things in the air despite being tiny. Simpson will come good and I'm sure he'll remain professional. He got dropped after hitting form last season but remained professional and still played quite well when making sub appearances.

Matt we scored 21 goals at home. Thats a terrible total to suggest two of our forwards arent there to score goals isnt going to up the goals tally is it? So for all their movement, strength, heading whatever it wasnt enough was it. Plus all those things are debatable as ade certainly didnt win it on nearly every occasion. I like Simpson, i just dont think NP does.
Make it simple, we lost. We lost cos we didnt score. We struggled to score last season. How have we rectified that? By signing Adestrolla a non scoring forward. NP needs to be decisive and get a forward in now.

We'll have to agree to disagree. From where I'm standing your slagging off three of our four strikers then saying if Fryatt gets injured we're doomed. Your then saying we lost cos we struggled to score, even though Fryatt should have had two last night. You're not making much sense imo, but you're entitled to your opinion.

Couldn't agree more, why is everyone being so negative? There is a long way to go and we can still look in the loan market for a striker. Ayala is a great signing especially at 850k!

Its quite simple, Fryatt is far and away our best forward. If he gets injured we are in trouble, if he has a poor season or goes into a slump then thats trouble too, is he in one now he could be the way he hesitated. Im not slagging them off im saying 2 of them arent good enough, if you disagree change the caption on your box. I like Simpson NP doesnt seem to, a striker lacking in confidence is no good to us.

Fair enough. I now see your reasoning, although I still think they are good enough. I cba to change my caption, and this is despite the fact Aaron McLean follows me on twitter...

I think the preposed signing of Ayala would be fantastic for City. He made Gerrard look average, who turned out to be the POTY and if we do sign him he should play week in week out (as long as hes preforming well). He's better than Hobbs (not because of yesterday, I thought he played decent tbh) and better than Chester (purely on physicality) so playing him would seem, well, a certainty. To reach the play-offs, a realistic target, you need to play your best players and if it means Hobbs (He's the worst out of the very good 3 IMO) misses out then so be it, it is essentially business.

On the striker issue, I think we need to start Simpson and Fryatt up top ASAP! Everyone was full of praise about Fryatt last year, and just one bad game doesn't make him bad. He will score goals this season, fact. Simpson, on the other hand, needs a proper crack at things, he scored 6 goals last season in about 15 or so starts and i'm sure he can get into double figures if he's used as a main striker this season.

PS Chazz, the rumour (were I was sat) about Simpson was that he wasn't fit enough for 45 mins after his pre-season injury and Barmby was the only sensible option to replace Adebola, since they've brought back that stupid 5-sub system.

I think the team collectively should take the responsibility for not putting Blackpool to the sword. They had enough chances. To single out only one player IS unfair. It's a team game, so, the team takes the flak not any one player. And anyway it's only the first game of the season, give the guys some slack and get behind them. UTT.

That's my thoughts on Simpson not coming on. He wasn't fit and we didn't want to use him unless we had to.

The second part of your comment makes no sense though. How did the 5 subs role make Barmby the only option up front? If we'd had 7 subs who would have been the other striker on the bench? Fryatt and Adebola started, McLean was injured, Cullen went out on loan before the changes were announced and Simpson we're saying wasn't fit enough to do it. With Ghilas out of the reckoning Stewart is the only other player we've got that I've seen play up front and he's also out injured so who's left?*

*Thinking about it, Dawson on at left back, Dudgeon to left wing, and Brady moved up front was an option, but that was doable with the subs bench we named so doesn't answer the question.
