Considering you pay for potential as well as current ability these days, then I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley wanted £4m for Jay Rod on his own. Fox is a very good left back, a LOT better than Harding IMO. But I suspect this bid would be rejected unless things behind the scenes at Burnley are a lot worse than first thought, however maybe after the inevitable sale of Puncheon we could put that money towards an improved bid for these two? Otherwise Marvin Sordell of Watford anyone? I think after today it's clear that we're not going to struggle in this league (touch wood!) but I still think a new striker would turn us from having a decent chance, to have a bladdy great chance at promotion. Great performance from all the lads today though. Things are looking up! Together As One. COYR.
Martin looked jumpy today. Yeah he started as Jaidi was injured & Seaborne hasn't trained all week due to tonsilitus aparently according to one of his team mates that my wife spoke to today. Good shout to him. Think he did as well as he could be expected to. Got better as the game went on. Proves he needs games.
On the Burnley player, Eddie Howe was questioned about this rumour. His words were 'Don't know about it but its not ideal'. Not sure how to take that as it could mean all sorts of things. Just thought I would pass it on. Its at the end of the interview if you intend to listen to it. http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/...aw_2265218_2412299/0,,10413~2412299~1,00.html
I think what he means by 'not ideal' was that the Burnley board control the transfers and he might not of heard if its been rejected or accepted. It would be a good deal if it comes off and Eddie Howe didn't seem that confident what was happening!
The interviewer asked him if it was a problem hearing rumours linking two players with us on day of match. The 'it's not ideal' comment was in answer to that. Didn't deny it either, but then our own beloved manager gets shifty in response to such questions.
Yep I agree, I think for any team to find on match day that two of your better players are linked with a opposition club is not ideal and frustrating. Just have to wait and see if anything materializes. But could you imagine when we do play them and we have signed those two and stole Cork off them!! Can't say they will be welcoming us with open arms!!
do we really need another LB though? I mean with Harding, Dickson, Mills & Reeves on the books, plus young Luke Shaw coming through
Yeah but Fox is much better then Harding and Dickson and would make our defence even stronger especially with Richardson at RB, how good was he yesterday?!
Still have mixed feelings about Eddie Howe after he messed Bournemouth about. Wonder how close he got to being our manager!
No Bournemouth only said that we wanted Howe as manager to try and make 'Rivalry' between Saints and Bournemouth fans. It was total Bullsh*t!
The Bournemouth chairman said that he had turned down Saints and decided to stay at Bournemouth whilst Howe squirmed next to him. At the time I thought he looked unhappy and was trying to distance himself from what was being said.
I just think it was to try make Saints and Bournemouth 'rivals'. Knowone believed it then and i still don't believe it was true.
Tbh, I don't know where Burnley are going with all this. I can't honestly believe they've allowed Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears to go for £3M, the pair. I don't know much about Mears, but surely Eagles was worth the fee on his own..? Now they are going to roll over and take £4M for Rodriquez and Fox..? Don't see it. Plus it is that scandal sheet, The Daily Mail. Well, if they do come, then Joseph Mills has definitely played his last game for Saints, and we'll have plenty of back up on the striker front.
Im not sure why some people are saying 'Why do we want another left back'? Well if Fox is better than what we have then why not go for him - Agreed it might spell the end for Dickson (who imo is better than Harding) but he seems a good player. Also Rodriguez would be quality and our strikeforce would look very very good indeed.
