Do we all believe in coincidence? Well, here goes ............................ last night was the next round of matches in the "DFB Pokal" - the German equivalent of the FA Cup. The shock of the round was the victory of 3rd division team Sportfreunde Lotte over Bayer Leverkusen in a penalty shoot-out. Lotte is a town in Nordrhein-Westfalen and has just 14000 inhabitants. In fact, one could call it Little Lotte - 3.10 Fakenham, 66/1 available. This might seem a fanciful tip, given the filly's form to date, but she does get the first time tongue strap and who knows what wonders that might work?
Looks to me like a bookie plot rather than Levin - why would he use different jockeys. The biggest risk in a gamble is the bookie getting to the jock so why use more than you need to. Have a look at the ride given to Gold Beau in the 19.30 at Newcastle. No pocket talk as I had the winner (aftertime alert) but surely something should be done about that ride. No use of the whip at all. Yes the horse was responding to pressure but surely a crack or 2 he might have responded even more? If the horse doesnt like the whip and the jock had no intention of using it why take it out at all? Stinks to me and yet not even a word from the stewards who chose to investigate a jock for going into the wrong stall instead. Madness.
Funny, but better half's just announced she's very hungry and is right now 'dragging' me off to our 'Indian'. So, would Lady Lunchalot in the 15:30 at Chelmsford be a topical tip too? What a lovely name for a mare also, btw....
2.10 Fakenham Eamon An Cnoic 7/2 Not my favourite track but David Pipe likes it and i think he's sent one over that has a fair chance of wining today. If you look at this horses last run over fences in April, he ran a 1/9 shot to a few lengths. That horses form stacks up really well in light of todays contest with a subsequent decent second in a £10k race next time up and a listed hurdle winner behind him. Personally, i want to take on the Channon hurdler that's favourite. Evan Williams' horse could be anything but has a very disappointing run to overcome last time out when clearly better things were expected. The Alex Dunn horse will be running to reduce it's mark. All that leaves me to think the Pipe horse should really be favourite and 7/2 is too big.
Treve's little sister TERRE makes her debut in the 3.50pm (2.50pm UK time) at Saint-Cloud. She was offered for sale as a yearling but failed to meet her reserve of €2million (bidding stalled at €1.2million) so was retained by the Head family. In the divided Maiden at Nottingham half-siblings to LUCARNO and HALFBRIDLED and a full sibling to SAAMIDD make their debuts.
Youmkin 5/2 fav but the money is for Pow Wow ...................... and Outcrop (25s to 10s) Given Saamidd was such a precocious 2YO I'd hope his full brother might be up to winning this.
Just a shame we didn't pay attention to the half-brother to Lucarno - Tartini - who has just won the first Division at 25-1
