The 2nd bestest keeper in the whole world just conceded the same goal as Karius. He also conceded another 3 too. What now?
As of now the thing is we are only 2 goals worse off than city or arsenal and better then utd. Only spurs show the reality of how bad we are. In many ways we are only as bad as many English sides sadly... which is why nobody will do much in Europe again this year. Spurs I hope have a good run after resting their first team in the league cup.
Klopp says calm down https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/oct/23/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-defending
Let in more goals than anyone else in the top 6, seems your initial thoughts on Klopp were right #footballgenius
Majority of our goals are down to stupid individual errors. Replace a couple of people in defence and the errors will reduce. I mentioned in another thread - we're conceding less shots and clear cut chances which implies that the team as a whole is defending well. The problem is that we're conceding from these limited chances at an alarmingly high rate which implies it's the back line who are struggling to deal with any form of pressure/exposure.
Lovren: I managed to say sorry for my mistake! http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/241348-lovren-i-managed-to-say-sorry-for-my-mistake
I think there is a chance that we are struggling at the back due to concentration. We are that used to going forward we are almost forgetting we have to defend. Second half against Palace we looked ok defending after we had been doing it for a bit. Thats why these goals are coming on the first shot. we have all focused on the mistakes but that second header by Mcarthur at Palace was a good header, and it was a good delivery, so is there also a chance teams are realising that when they play us and a chance presents itself they need to take it? When we played Burnley i think we felt that we would just overun them so we didnt focus right in our heads whereas Burnley knew that every chance they got would be hard won. Basically a bit of arrogance on our part as a team.
hmmm very contradictory of you Jimmy. Whilst i don't think Karius has shown himself in any good light (mcarthurs first goal), i can respect that most of the goals conceded by him have been ones where you aren't expecting them to save them. However the season before you was criticizing the fact that teams had scored far too many goals for the shots they had and blamed it all on mignolet. Now for the very same reason it is the defences fault rather than blaming your keepers (most notably karius). Surely if you are letting in goals but not conceding many chances it's got to be a keepers fault. Obviously the most important stat is the number of high quality chances but you haven't give us that
You won't win the league while your defence is shipping goals like it has been so far - 1 clean sheet in 10 games. Over the course of a season there'll be weeks when your attacking players have an off day and it's then that you need to keep a clean sheet and scrape a 1-0 - all the best sides have done it over the years. This side doesn't look capable of it to me, and it's what will eventually cost you imo.
can draw the odd game 0-0 against lower teams that come to anfield for a point as long as follow that up with wins. Win 2 games after that you've got 7 points from 9, as long as you don't lose or draw the next 2 games to make it 2 points from 9 that's when we'd be in trouble. So far when we've come unstuck we've followed it up wth good wins. Yeah well prob lose the odd game where forward line don't quite fire, or draw when defence lets in a last minute equaliser but so far this season we've shown we can come back and follow those dispppoibtments up with wins.
